OK.... I do have a transcription of the above mentioned article. I think that it would not be wise to print it here due to copyright reasons, but if I am willing to email it to anyone who want's to drop me a PM or email.

    AKG 414 on guitar cab?

It's an Australian mag called "Audio Technology" I'm trying to sweet-talk the wife into typing the article up for me so i can post some of the "interesting" bits. One thing it says is that he moves the mics in and out depending on how much "room sound" he wants. But the mics should stay...

    Live Condenser Mic

My "usual' live instrument condenser is a Beyer Opus83, but if I'm not using all my AKG 353EB's for vocals I go for that first.

Save up just a tiny bit more and get a Sebatron VMP1000e. You WON'T be dissappointed.

    200 dollar vocal mics

Anyone who says the C1 sounds like a U87, has NOT heard a U87. I haven't heard a cheap Chinese mic yet that even comes close to the TLM-103

    dual channel mic preamp

If you are after quality, forget preamps with digital outs. Unless you are prepared to pay huge dollars, it's usually a trade of for quality vs price. Either the pre or the A/D or more often both will suffer to get the unit to an affordable price point. And as has been debated here many times...

    dual channel mic preamp

Also the 101 is a little box with a wall wart, whereas the 201 is a rack unit with an inbuilt PSU. Makes a big difference. What are you planning to record? Will help with suggestions.

    Some nice mics.

So how much more do you have to spend? ;) And what is your current gear list? ..... I'm sure we can help you spend the rest LOL. Actually, If I was in your shoes I would have bought a matched pair of the Gefells.
