    Sorry dumb interface question

Also, would those things not affect my RAM rather than my ASIO?

    Sorry dumb interface question

Hi Dave, you're right, but what changed is I bought a new Guitar multi fx pedal, so have been recording more stereo audio tracks , rather than mono and applying fx via vsts. I just prefer this but it's less economical on ASIO.

    Sorry dumb interface question

Hello, I use Cubase and my interface is the Steinberg CI2. I've optimized the performance settings on my laptop, so there's not much I can do there. Recently, I've been getting a lot of pops etc. when I open the monitor, the RAM is fine, but the ASIO is peaking. If I'm to upgrade, which bit of...

    *that* hihat sound.

Hi - really having trouble getting a hi-hat sound that I like. I'm moderately capable, but can't get it right. The easiest way for me to demonstrate what I'm after is via a song, so here's a really good example, Pink Steam by Sonic Youth https://youtu.be/LFGF638WDAQ It's that tsssssy sound on...

    BCF2000 MIDI 'Pulse'

Hi guys. I've bought a BCF2000 and set it up with Cubase Essential 4. It's in emulated BabyHui mode and I've got it all set up and it works just fine. HOWEVER, it seems to send a MIDI 'pulse' about once a second to whichever track I have highlighted on the mixer or list view. It's annoying...

    Alesis Firewire issues (AGAIN! SORRY!)

I am having trouble with my Alesis Multimix 12 Firewire. I use Cubase E4 & Vista 32. Occasionally it just doesn't work - I can see midi being triggered and levels on audio tracks jigging up and down , but no sound comes out. Sometimes it waits until I'm halfway through a project before it tells...

    Cubase on laptop

No - not on the notebook, but the Alesis DOES have a spare firewire port. Should I plug it in there instead? The external drive only has a type B USB port out.

    Cubase on laptop

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of updating my home studio and decided to base it around my notebook (Sony Vaio NR11Z) instead of paying for a new pc. I use it alongside an Alesis Multimix 12 Firewire. It wasn't running very well, so I looked into the system reqs for Cubase (currently LE...

What's the best vocal VST plugins around for cubase

I've just downloaded that Voxengo Voxformer that Phildo recommended and I'm pretty impressed with that.

    multimix 12 usb

Let's start at the top of the signal chain. Make sure youre plugged in (with phantom if youre using a condenser mic) to channel 1. Leave the HPF alone at this point. Set gain to half way. Leave eq alone at this point. Turn down both effects to zero. Pan left if you're recording in mono (if...

What's the best vocal VST plugins around for cubase

Believe it or not, the best plug-in may already be on your system. Wierdly, a lot of people sing slightly flat (or sharp) when tracking via headphones. If you go to your pitch shifter and take your whole vocal up 10cents of one semitone, it adds life and 'air'. I discovered this from a book and...

    Upgrading my setup around Cubase

Thanks, guys. So maybe one of these Alesis Multimix 12 Firewire Phonic Helix Board 12 FireWire If I had one of those would I still need a direct box, or are they DI, mixer and interface all in one? If I could get away with one of those, and stick with plug-in comps etc, I might have enough...

    Upgrading my setup around Cubase

Hi guys. I'm new here and sorry if it's bad form to start a thread with my first post. But anyway here goes. I've been using Cubase 4 for a while and have used up most of the memory on my PC. So it's time to upgrade. Despite the credit crisis(!), after I've paid for a new discdrive and some...
