I see that some folks have their DAW's connected to the internet. Is there an advantage to this? I am firmly in the I hate WIN10 automatic forced update group so I am planning on keeping my machine off of the net. Is there any reason to change that?

thanks so much for the responses.the reason i was asking is that i have an unfinished project that was recorded on a fostex in 1995. i don't know what model and i don't know if it makes a difference as far as finishing it. are the fostex machines very different from each other? i want to get one...

does anyone here know anything about Fostex 16 track analog recorders? thanks.
