I have three Macs and I can burn 1x on each. Perhaps because I use Roxio's Toast.

The slowest burn speed on any machine is 1x.

I am running a single 1.8 G5 PPC w/4gb ram and it runs great.

The Mac games I have all have to install an application and run the media off the DVD. Open the DVD icon and look for an installer. The DVD player will do nothing for a game.

I highly recommend the 1010lt.

Hmmm- my 1010lt and its driver (and updates) has performed flawlessly for three years. My Firewire Audiophile also works flawlessly.:confused:

Nice setup. If you haven't already, get a big, fast external firewire drive and put as much ram as you can in the MacBook Pro. Although I use Logic myself, Pro Tools is a great program and popular for good reason.:)

No problem lasting four years. I still have labs full of early G3 iMacs that just keep chugging along. My G5 PowerMac is four years old now.

And only Pro Tools. He's already going with Live 6. Don't confuse the issue with totally non related proprietary plugins.

The Live 6 manual is the one you will need. It looks to me like your concerned with free VST's. Look on http://www.kvraudio.com/. It will answer the free-ware questions. As to the other plugins- there own companies websites will tell you if they will run or not. Most of the better plugin and VI...

Does your owners manual not answer any of these question?

I have had a 1010lt since I got my G5 with PCI-X. I have never had a hardware, driver, or OS upgrade issue with it. It is rock solid.

Use the search function- this topic has been discussed, argued, debated and fought over about a million times. ;)
