yeeeeah :)
well everything is recorded already. I'm just trying to make the song sound a little bit more controlled and this deafening ride isn't helping!
I've got too much ride in my overhead microphones. I can't really bring them down more in the mix 'cause then it doesn't sound good at all. Any tips or tricks that I can try to fix this? The ride is both loud AND inconsistent in volume so it'd really help to tame them somoehow.
Thanks!
So it isn't true that limiting is the same thing as a compressor but with a ratio of at least 10:1
If it is, then theoretically a limiter can let a signal stay over the threshold, right?
I know how they work and I know the parameters, except for one thing. People say, when describing compressors, that they lower loud parts and raise quiet parts. It's the last part that I don't get. If I put a signal through a compressor with a 2:1 ratio, any part of the signal that exceeds the...
I'm writing an essay for school and was thinking about real recorded drums vs. fake drums (Ezdrummer etc.)
I know it's not the most original subject but it interests me.
I was thinking about making a test where there are two tracks to listen to; one of a recorded drumkit played by a drummer and...
So before I got that Mbox2 and protools, I used a pc with a behringer mixer (2 mic inputs) and a Audiophile Firewire soundcard. If I wanted to record my electric guitar I'd just plug it into the mixer and go. The sound was what it was but for my purpose of recording ideas it was ok.
So now I...
Well I'm too inexperienced to tell really. I guess it might be that I'm listening too long. I certainly hope so! :)
I guess it would be the acoustic guitars that could sound harsh.
I think putting a clip in the mixing clinic would be a good idea. I'll try to do that as soon as possible...
I've got a song with two acoustig guitars, bass, drums, a rhodes and electric guitar (not all at the same time!) and I'm trying to mix it as good as I can (homerecording, you know...). I'm getting pretty good results as far as making it sound clearer and more separated, all relative of course to...
I'm running Cubase SX 3 with an Mbox 2. I can't figure out how to hear things in stereo. No matter what I do to a track, I don't hear the effect as I listen back.
There isn't a hell of a lot of things to do on the Mbox itself (except for the mono button and the mix "wheel") so I'm guessing...
When I have drums, bass and two acoustic guitars it sounds good/ok, but then nothing is really competing for the same space (drums and bass maybe and I'm sure they could be a lot better).
The problem starts when I, on the second verse, want a little electric guitar. Things start to sound...
I've got a song with two acoustic guitars panned to each side playing the same part, drums and bass. I'm trying to fit an electric guitar in there too but I'm such a newbie still that I don't know where to start trying to make things fit.
The drums are artificial so they're fine I guess. The...
