Can acid to VST On the fly plug ins?

When you hit the 'arm' for the track you'll be recording on...a litte icon will appear next to it (looks like two little speakers). That's the Line-In icon. Click it, and a pull-down menu will appear. Go to Input Monitor -> On, and you should now be able to hear your applied effect in real-time.

    Elegy

Thank you for the wonderful comments!! :D To be brutally honest, I would never have thought my lyrics (even in part) as "brilliant" or "profound" ;) I'm pleased that the consensus of the "Hello friend" verse needs work. That's actually the exact verse that I found to be the corniest lol...

    Elegy

Okay, I'm pretty new to songwriting in general...especially where lyrics are concerned, so I'll be needing all the constructive criticism I can get here lol In 2007, I lost a friend to the war in Afghanistan. He was killed in a roadside bombing, six weeks shy of the end of his tour. He was a...

Effect for distorted electric guitar leads

BOSS (made by Roland) offers a few stomp box effects that might be what you're looking for. The CE-5 Chorus Ensemble or CH-1 Super Chorus adds a nice accent to any guitar sound, regardless of distortion. (You can check those out here http://www.bossus.com/gear/productlist.php?ParentId=91) They...

    Headphones or Speakers??

Agreed! Gecko, you couldn't have described any better, the 'milestone' that I am at right now. Great analogy. :D Freya and Tim both give me reason to purchase a set of headphones. I just know my current speakers are going to lack certain frequencies...and given the treatment of my room...

    some new riffage

Wow ZoSo...I'ts rare to hear a C tuning used in such a refreshing way! You'll find it far more often in Metal music, but you've proven beyond a doubt that it can sound great in Funk/Rock. Great song! If you plan on using it more often, then it would be a good idea to invest in some heavier...

    Headphones or Speakers??

Thus, is exactly the reason why I ask the question in the first place. I know you guys are experienced...and it's exactly this constructive criticism that I am seeking!! Thank you all :) I suppose I was being pretty archaic in believing I might get "some degree of CD-quality" out of my music...

    Headphones or Speakers??

Well...given that I only plan to make music for myself (sharing only with family and friends), I was willing to sacrifice perfect sound quality. At least for now. My electronic music teacher back in High School once told me that making music at home, using whatever it is you have available to...

    Headphones or Speakers??

For monitoring purposes, which would you suggest? I'm recording digitally in my basement, which is really not set up for sound quality. My speakers are hardly the greatest for mastering, so I was leaning toward the slightly cheaper route and buying a good set of headphones. I ask the...

who says you need "real" instruments :)

Awsome riff! I'm not much of a fan of pop-rock, but this to me sounds a lot more like a Ballad....which I am a fan of. Excellent work

    First Hard Rock Mix

As soon as the song kicked in, I immediately thought "Godsmack". And I love Godsmack!! This is a really awsome song! I just wish it were longer. That would be my only problem with it. I'd love to hear a solo, and maybe a small interlude with just the drums/bass playing.

    "Borrowed" Chord Progressions

Well....after scrutinizing my song over the past couple of days, I am quite certain now that my melody does not outright copy that of anyone else's (that I know of, of course)...at least not the one that inspired me to write it in the first place. I realize stepping into a melody that may have...

    "Borrowed" Chord Progressions

    Those are great examples! Ok, here's what I've got. Damien Rice's "9 Crimes" is in 4/4 with a tempo of 135bpm. He's playing a piano, all quarter notes which the main four bars are: A E B C | F C F G | C G C E | G D G A this repeats over and over for the course of the song. I planned to have...

    "Borrowed" Chord Progressions

Thank you everyone, for so many responses! :) I really didn't believe that borrowing a progression could be viewed as 'wrong' musically. Fraserhutch, you nailed exactly what I was already thinking right on the head. I don't plan on publishing any songs. As I already stated...I'm a...

    "Borrowed" Chord Progressions

Hello all, This is my first post here, but I've been reading through these forums for a little while now. I'm still quite new to the home-recording stuff. But everyone here seems really helpful and constructive, and I hope to begin posting some stuff of mine soon...(just as soon as I get down...
