Great!
I'm glad that worked. You shouldn't have to plug those RCA's to the computer. The computer will output the signal to your Scarlett and the sound will be transferred to your monitors. I hope that everything else works out and if you have further questions, let us know!
Cheers!
Check your signal flow
I want to make sure I understand this correctly, you have your monitors connected to both the computer AND the Scarlett?
If that is the case, try only connecting the monitors to the line outputs only.
Signal Flow should be: Instrument-Cable-Scarlett-computer-DAW.

Thank you for the welcome party!
Welcome, I've been recording for about 10 years and recently started a website of my own to help others. I own a recording studio in Oklahoma called Tree Note Studios and have been in business on my own for 2 years proudly making a living. I know how...
Great choice!
CAD Mic set would be a great starting point! Same with the Tascam.
The first thing I would do is check your computer to make sure it will with Cubases LE5. Thats what program will come with the interface.
Be ready to buy cables and a few extra mic stands - Extra Expense I always...
Vocal recording
If this is a home recording don't go out and buy sound proofing. Use blankets. Ill start there.
Get your vocal area surrounded to deaden the sound aroun you.
Next you need to set your distance from the mic with a pop filter. If your don't have one build one. Make them out of...
I hope this answers your question!!!
I want to know things such as:
How many overlaid guitar tracks are too many? = None- the most I use is four (quad track)
If I've overlaid too many guitar tracks and the mix is starting to get muddy, which ones should I try eliminating first?=stick to...
Snare Problem solution
Try isolating all your mics and figure out where the snare is coming out the most. You mentioned the ovh so I'm assuming you may have already done this. You need to determine the application of the ovh. For instance since everything is close mic'd then try making your...
Best thing to do is throw up a song of theirs and use it as a ref. track. Start with overdub, then maybe quad-track. More than likely they used different eq's for each track so no two tracks mask their sounds. Also want to check your phase. The biggest thing your going to want to look at is how...
Hoping to make some friends and learn something new!
Here we go. I hope everyone is here to network and make new friends along the way. First post i guess. Boom!
More space is needed. So start with your panning. Keep in mind that your panning is not going to give it a "Bigger" sound, it'll just allow you to place things in place with out masking your frequencies and/or overwhelming your listeners. The drums I "feel" don't need Eq at this time. Instead...
