The boomyness is the proximity effect of the mike.
Either use the bass roll off on the mike (That's what it's there for) or roll off the extreme low end in cool edit.
I agree with shep about angling away from the right hand but that close you are going to get proximity effect.
Also, have...
try reversing the eq of the sm57.
A SM57 has a peak at around 6khz and rolls off below 100hz. (Why they are good stage mikes) So try dipping at 6khz and low shelf boost at 100hz.

That's called methylated spirits. DON'T use it - the blue dye leaves a residue - only use isopropyl alcohol. You can get it from the guy that makes up your medical prescriptions at the drug store. - they use it.

Love the riff rats - I feel it's a shame betty didn't send you the dry version as you've had to verb it all out to match her so you both dissappear into a wall of verb.
Mix sounds fine apart from that ;)

It's raining here too Fitz. has been for a week now - we haven't flooded yet but could if it keeps up :)
BTW I mixed "the Real Thing" - an aussie classic from the 60s in a control room 10 x 10. :D

It helps if you can put the harmonies in another space to the vocal - I don't mean panning space here - I mean time space. I often add a harmonised (pitchshifted) short delay to harmony vox. i.e. one delay harmonised up .008cents - the other side down .008 cents.
my .002 cents

I've used cork as a wall treatment - it was in sheets 1", 2" and 3" thick. Bit thicker than your app.
I've also used it on the floor in a control room - works really well in that app as things don't break when dropped and it outwears most other stuff.

Good in that it can handle the spl
good in that it has a tight pattern - keeps other sounds out.
good in that it has a slight high end lift built in
only problem is the rolloff in the low end but that can be compensated for.

Wow - beautiful view Steve :)
I'm sitting here with just a sarong cos it's 90 degrees ;) The weather's weird here too mate. Inland NSW which is normally 90+ is 60 today! - severe storms just went through south of me - could be a cyclone year - we are due for one.
