I read your post on the topic of micing a saxophone. I am currently a Master of Music student studying saxophone and am looking to record an album of solo and quartet repertoire, but want to utilise my own equipment.
You mentioned it would be better to use a large diaphragm mic? As far as stereo imaging, would two LDC work better than small diaphragm mics? What is the best combination? I agree that the large diaphragm is better to capture the "body" of the saxophone sound, but wonder if pencil condensors would add more clarity?
