    Anyone with some IDeas?

Yeah, POD rawkes! I also have a DC-30 and I can get great tracks from POD easier than setting up and "hopefully" getting a good mic placement. It helps to keep using the tube stuff on gig's and band rehearsal to keep your ear trained for "tweaking" the POD but for recording, it's great...

    Behringer VS. Mackie..opinions please...

I've owned both a Mackie 1604VLZ and a Behringer MX 802. The preamps seem comparable to me and the Behringer guy has his own line of low noise op-amps and some other cool stuff. He just get's his stuff built cheaply in China. That doesn't bother me. Hell, the Made in USA stuff uses...

    Roland UA-30

Yeah, the multi-colored LED kinda sucks for input level reference. I use mine on a Panasonic Toughbook running WIN98. No problems sytemwise and I think it does a good job of getting audio in and out of my notebook for a reasonable price. Hell, it beats the heck out the internal soundcard fer...

First Guitar & Amp - Advice Needed

I agree with Daddy-O that a Blues Jr. would make a nice choice for a starter amp. The POD is very awesome but you may find it difficult to use for your first gigging/practicing situation with a band. Also, I've noticed J. Turser guitars seem to be nice starter instruments. At least the...

    vocals

I agree with the "REV". Good music Michael! I remember working with violin players and singers who would leave one ear exposed from the muffs in order to maintain their intonation. Anyone notice that before? As for autotune technology, why not? Hank Williams and Patsy Cline didn't have...

Uses for the ART Tube MP

Another use is for clean, direct electric guitar recording with POD. If you have a POD or some other guitar amp emulator try recording tracks by using only a monitored "amp" sound and send a clean, direct electric guitar tone to tape/disk going through the Art or a Countryman D.I. before the...

    Excess Noise...AHHHH!!! I hate Noise!!

Do you have the WINdows "record" mixer turned up enough for the line input? Noise and "low" level tell me that you're not getting a good s/n ratio. Good luck, joe

    Data storage for DAT recorder/player?

That was quick! Thank you. Yeah, I'm trying to learn more about a PCMCIA or USB CD burner. I already have the DAT and MD and I was just curious if there's anyway to store "regular" data on those devices? Cheers, joe

    Roland UA-30

Ok, the "newbie" is "busy" today. :o) ANyone using the Roland UA-30? I've got one for my notebook and it seems to be working ok during the "honeymoon" period. I would like to share uses and other stuff if interested? joe

    Data storage for DAT recorder/player?

Anyone have experience using DAT or MD for storing computer data? WAV files are my biggest storage headache and I've got digital I/O to manage that but I was wondering if it's possible to store programs and other data as well on DAT or MD? WIN OS. Cheers, joe
