    TASCAM M-520

So, I’m getting the hang of working with the 80-8/M-520. I’m at a point where I would like to bounce some tracks down to one. Free up some space. I tried doing it “intuitively” and here I am! Not finding anything in the manual.

Yep. Got it. Got five minutes of drums on track 8 via Channel 1 input. This is a whole next level of board for me! Never used anything like it. Whoa. Thanks for the patience.

Just gave it another shot. Plugged drum machine into Channel 1 RCA INST in. Turned pan to Even and pressed 8 and pushed up that #8 buss fader over on the right side of the board under the monitor section. Bingo! Channel 8 VU reading drum machine plugged into Channel 1.

By other tracks, I mean just use Channels 1 & 2 inputs and have what I record go to channels 3 - 8. Those channels only have XLR or RCA inputs and the manual says Channels 1 & 2 INST inputs are essentially direct boxes. I tried running my drum machine into Channel 8 into the Line In RCA but got...

What I mean is: Just use INST input jack in Channel 1 & 2 (or MIC) and have them go to the other tracks. Can't I do that? I tried plugging a drum machine into the other tracks LINE inputs (RCA's) and I didn't get anything. Only Channel One or Two, do I get sound from either the guitar or drum...

Sorry about”C”. Short for Channel. Clear on selecting INST on Channel 1. I would like to keep using Channel 1 ( mics, guitars) and assign to the other channels instead of replugging. Also, Channels 1&2 have the 1/4” inputs. Channels 1 & 2 inputs are MIC-INST-TAPE, 3 & 4 are MIC-PHONO-TAPE. All...

Yes! Getting signal on tape machine and board. I ordered some jumpers off the internet. I got my electric guitar, plugged into C1 INST, assigned to C4. Signal/Meters on tape deck and mixer C4. So, yes. Got that far. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to replicate that again. But I figured it...

Good news. I’ve got my guitar, plugged into C1, talking to C4 Board and deck. I think I may be crawling. Two more days off to learn to shuffle.

And!…. They don’t fit. Off by a mm. Back to the patch-cords for jumpers until my connect comes through…

Yeah. That’s what probably happened. He said he’s going to bring them. Probably come out of another mixer . I can see the runway, now. Just breaking through the cloud cover. Should be on the ground real soon. I’m fortunate to have a vintage audio dealer right across the road. Didn’t know what...

Yep. I’m an idiot. No channel jumpers. I have the buss jumpers but I didn’t get that I needed them in each channel until I read some ancient thread where someone spelled it out in all CAPS for another idiot, and that’s when I figured it out. The guy I got it from has a vintage audio gear...
