What I meant is that you can use the thing without a computer. It is a real digital mixer. All of its controls can be accessed from the front panel. You can create four separate submix's with it or the software, with diferent levels set, etc........ Jtt

The 828II, has alot of 'mixer' built in. It can even function as a standalone--racked digital mixer..... Can route headphone mixes to different outputs.... Only thing it is missing is decent pres... -Jtt

Headphones should be just as good as monitors for showing differences between pres. Headphones excel at showing fine details. Not as good for relative levels between tracks or for mixing. -Jtt

All I've got to say about Kurt Foster is WOW!!! What a fool. (Dot used to be my blowhard of reference, but he's gotten much better in the last year--almost reasonable even.) I'd never be able to trust a word he says. He acts like an expert on subjects where he has ZERO technical expertise---...

Also: Flexibility wise, input wise, converter wise--the card is great. However, they should have skipped the built in pres, I've never heard a dynamic mic like a 57 sound worse. Maybe they are ok Di's or work well with condensors--haven't tried them for that yet. -Jtt
