Bit depth [edited] compatibility . . .
As of Christmas, I have 2 drum machines units, Beat Buddies. One model is 16-bit; the other is 24 bit. I also have two Tascam [edited: Portastudios]: the 8-track is 16 bit; the 24 track is 24 bit.
Of question, would I encounter any compatibility...
Insight on any of the following questions is appreciated.
Situation: Only RCA cables can be sent from source to desktop mixing monitors designed to accept RCA plugs:
1) Are RCA cable more prone to noise? If so, what is the cause and how can I prevent it?
2) Can such noise be merely unwanted...
I am looking at possibly purchasing the Fostex PMSubmini2 sub. I'd use it with my IK 3" Micro Monitors, likely A/B switching with JBL LSR 305's.
Any comments on its fidelity?
Would the lack of cutting off what is sent to the monitors (below sub's crossover selection) cause inability to hear...
Through a 3rd-party retailer, I obtain a manufacturer’s frequency graph, which is based on 0.1 volts input (as stated on the engineers’ notes).
The reason I need to know conversion of voltage to dB input is because the low-end rolls off quite a bit (approximately -15dB) from 80Hz before...
As a Newbie, putting together home-recording equipment, your patience please with the following question:
If I understand the specs correctly, the Fishman Mini 60W, which I would use for individually multitracked acoustical guitar and vocal recording, has a separate tweeter/woofer design rather...
How I do get from my JBL LSR 305 monitors the low-end extension Hz rating as based on -10dB spec?
Do I need to make sure the source signal sent to the monitors is -10dB, or do I simply set the monitors at -10dB (regardless of the level sent)?
Thanks, JeffF.
If I were to pursue creating a free-share platform for other musicians, what would be some inexpensive options of platforms to consider? (I am not well familiarized on a technical level with distribution, commercial or not.)
Your insights are appreciated, JeffF.
I would appreciate any feedback on Cerwin-Vega's XD8 subwoofer for its application in mixing. This may go unanswered as this may be an application not commonly associated with this subwoofer.
However, with its 35Hz bottom extension response, typical I/P and O/P options, and selectable...
Although I do not anticipate regretting the purchase the ProAudioDVDs.com DP24 tutorial (as well as their recording and mixing DVDs), which I am just beginning to study each, I found on YouTube a free, 12-part series on the use of the DP24 & 32 SD models--demonstrated on the DP32SD. (I listed...
I am just learning my DP24SD as well as mixing concepts.
When I am ready, would it be possible to download to my Tascam SD card requested drum tracks, in WAV files I presume, for practicing mixing?
Thanks, JeffF.
Hello visited Community,
Respectfully, as a relative beginner, I've never heard previously about mixing to format. I appreciate your allowing me to inquire about this.
Is the MP3 forum's overarching view that the particular dynamics of MP3 compression loss can be further mixed toward...
I am just learning of mixing (instructional DVD series), so the following request for insight may very well shape my future mixing process/goal, please assist . . .
My equipment sales rep (of sound engineering education) stated that I should not be too surgical about EQ'ing (in terms of getting...
My 24 track recorder has only 1 headphone O/P, but with special equipment I can send a R/L line to the drummer and one other instrument as my initial tracks.
I am thinking that the drummer would be able to better sense the progression of the song if that second instrument is the rhythm guitar...
As I am on an entry level in recording, I am concerned about drummer's hearing protection. I am looking at the Sennheiser's HD280 headphones, with a rated 32 dB isolation. In this price range, this rating seems typical of phones made for greater isolation.
A few questions on the HD 280's for...
