I know how to use it for avoiding latency lag when over-dubbing. Still, I've never needed it for that. I mostly use it to dial down the software playback volune. :idk:
I know in XP you've got to select the Firebox as your default audio device. It's under the Audio tab in the Sound and Audio device properties box. HIH.
The only time I think about quitting a hobby is after I've already quit. Usually this coincides with me finding another hobby. I won't quit the one so much as just find myself doing the other instead.
Selling the old gear only occurs to me when I need money for the new hobby's gear. Like now...
I am at a crossroads and your input would be appreciated.
:)
Four pres seems sufficient at this point. Also, for my purposes, the Firebox pres seem, I guess, tolerable, espesicially if I could get two nicer ones to plug in the back. However, I have a chance to get a used Mackie Onyx for...
Tis' a fact. Two 1.8 ghz cores sharing a 1 mb L2 cache is not gonna be a fast setup.
FWIW, I found that using the Resident Shield component of AVG really bogged the internet down. And set every auto-update feature you can find to manual. Also, if you're using a router w/ a firewall you...
It still seems like you should be able to use the device as an interface, even if you're not using the amp sims and f/x. But like I said, I have zero experience w/ Line6 stuff.
For some reason I have an aversion to software w/ GUIs that try to look like hardware. The Line6 stuff supposedly...
I wasn't a total beginner when I got a Kontrol 49, but I've been very happy with it. Maybe if I were thinking about gigging on kb, I'd want 61 keys. But for recording and control surface use 49 has been fine by me.
Jake, the Line6 manuals are here:

The Acid Pro manual is online too.

I've never used either product, or I'd try to be more helpful. Sounds to me like you've got to...
Mostly I make backing tracks w/ vst instruments to give my stringband guys an idea of how I want a song to sound. Hopefully then we all use it to practice soloing with. I know I do. :)
Then, several people have asked me to record their music and, for reasons I do not quite understand, I keep...
I run the Ableton Live app, temp folder and decoding cache off of my C: drive (WD 250Gb,) but I keep the Live Library (samples and presets) on a separate internal (J:) drive.
I save projects and sets to the J: drive and backup weekly (w/ SyncToy) to an External Maxtor 500Gb that I try to...
On my XP Pro sp2 PC the bios sees 4Gb but the computer only registers 3Gb. It fast enough for my purposes but if I'm missing out on RAM I paid for (which I'm not really sure of either way,) I'd be all ears as to how to get it up and running.
Yeah, for a second there I was having delusions of selling the tubes and getting a RNP. Now you've got me thinking about the market for vintage paper clips. ;-)
