Hey what's up dude.
I like the chord progression. The chord progression sounds authentic surf rock. The guitar tones are decent.
The drums flat out don't work IMO. Your ears have probably regularized it by now but for me it was an unpleasant shock to the system. It's all 80s synth - sounds...
I mean, neanderthals and early humans had a roughly 25% of living past the age of 40, and their infant mortality rates were horrific, so it probably wasn't exactly a utopia lol.
Anyway, I dig this tune. It has great character.
I like the blend of instruments. The bass, drums, keys, and guitars...
The guitar tones are nice. They're dirty and vintage sounding and fit just right.
The drums I think could benefit from new heads. The tape on the heads often sounds good live - it reduces ambient ringing and noise that is annoying - and then on the recording they lack depth. I stopped muffling...
I like the drive of the tune. Good performance. I like the orchestration.
The vocals have a lot of sibilance.
The initial section and the section where it goes back to vocals and the initial rhythm sounds - I think you are going for a big contrast but maybe it's too big? I don't know. I can't...
yeah this is a fun listen. I like the energy behind the guitars and drums. Nice balance with the guitars and bass. It's gets you going.
Drums might be a tad small - but that's nitpicking. Have you added parallel compression or parallel distortion? Or tried a parallel snare reverb track slightly...
Hey what's up Nick.
Vocals sound nice. The steel string sounds nice.
The steel string panned hard left kinda overpowers the vocals near the beginning and then later on when the texture returns to the beginning format. During the chorus the balance is nice though.
Hope all is well!
I don't have extensive experience with a ton of preamps, but I do have extensive experience with a few:
RNP (Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Guitars, Bass)
Meek TwinQ (Vocals, Guitars)
Audient ASP008 (Drums, Bass DI)
Millennia (Classical Guitar, Amps, Drum Overheads)
The Millennia has lots of gain with...
I suspect Gear slutz unfortunately is more like gear whores.
That is to say, half those assholes are selling the products or manufacturing the products they are talking about, and proper disclosures are few and far between.
Those guys aren't Jons. They're pimps.
I don't trust anything I...
I did a small room at a friend's house one time like this. We had bass traps covering the entirety of any spot where wall meets ceiling. That's not because that's a great placement (it ought to be a decent place) but really because space is at such a premium that this is the most effective place...
Thanks! I am very satisfied that you got what I was going for. Big guitars while drums and bass a little more to the back of the stage. -That was a conscious mix decision based on the old surf rock albums.
