    Cheap guitars that play awesome?

Greg Bennett Tele copy. I paid 100 for it at an estate sale. Replaced all the guts and pickups. Super great now. It was good before, but sings now.

    setting your own intonation

Ghip Todd, designer of the T series Peaveys, Advises using frets farther up. Such as the 5th fret and then the 17th. He says it is more accurate. His method works well for me.

    Your first mix

I have an old mix of one of the first things I ever. did Vestifire 4-track cassette. I don't have any place to post it and link to it though. It was just a 3 part harmony version of Tell me why (the old standard, not the Beatles song).

    Ok, just thinking it through

Well, like I said, I am just sorting thru what to do with it. I would love to use it, but if I am not going to use it, I want it to be used by someone. Sitting in a closet not being used for its intended use would have to make it's analog little soul unhappy and possibly lead to bad karma for me.

    Ok, just thinking it through

Well, I was really hoping someone would convince me to use the 488. I see the value and hate to pay about 1200 for something and sell it for one tenth of that. I am thinking that the submixing could be useful, but I also know I will use it sparingly at best. BTB, I live in west central...

    Ok, just thinking it through

Tascam 488. In very good shape. Used sparingly. Probably a total of 6 to 8 hours total use, then set in a closet for 15 years or so. I recently received a fostex Mr16HD as a present from my wife. Ease of use is just too great. I see the 488 not getting used and it just makes me sad. What...

Who the hell is using Fostek!?!?!?!!?!?!?

I wish it would get more. I recently purchased the MR16 HD-CD. I would love to have guys on here everyday posting a "this is a shorter way to do, this is a great way to mix etc" for this machine.

    Multi Track Recording Forms

Are you talking like a track sheet thing? I just finished doing a quick one with a set up for the Fostex mr16. I can email it Monday when I am at the office. Or do a google search for track sheets and look for a page Or try these links. Mine is similar, but just more Fostex specific. There...

    DP01, DP01FX, or Fostex MR8mkII?

Well, I purchawsed the MR16hdcd after Christmas. Just got it in. My plans are to find some way to use it and the 488 in my life. I wish I could sync the 2 together, but I do not figure that is happening. The fostex has midi out and could be used with a sequencer, but I don't think I can...

    Home Recording's Dirty Little Secret

Check your WISC-R scores on that retarded classification. 70 is in a functioning range that would be quite above drooling and not being able to repress bowel movements. I am sure a person with your confidence in being correct knew that and was just attempting humor that was not gotten and left...

    Home Recording's Dirty Little Secret

I have read all of these pages with interest. I have limited funds. First as a student, then starting as a teacher, then as a guy with a family and responsibilities, other things come before extra equipment. I have made a go with a Tascam 488 for 15 or so years (used too infrequently) and...

    DP01, DP01FX, or Fostex MR8mkII?

I would love to see a review. I am considering that machine and the Tascam 2488 among others.

    Fostex MR16HD or Yamaha MD4s ?

Is it just a standard laptop cd burner? Then what would I need to have the software for it to run?

Recommend me an acoustic under $1000!

My Yairi DY-40 sounds real nice and is easy to play. just barely under $1000 so it fits your criteria.

4 track cassette only good for demos, while real records are made on 2" Studer?

Where would the 8 tracks such as the 488 and the Yamaha version of the 8 track cassette fit in? Some stuff I have heard from them is quite sonicly pleasing.
