Most mixers have built in mic preamps.

I know someone that has KRK moniters and they sound pretty nice. They're also not too expensive. I can assign TRS outputs 1 and 2 on the 1010 to be the left and right channels of the full sterio mix?

I'm actually not looking for 6 full channels I only expect two. Won't the s/dif out combine them into 2 channels? And what would you suggest for powered moniters for less than $300 if the z-680's wont work? Are these any good? And any problems with the setup besides the speakers?
