Hi all -- I haven't been here for ages and need to catch up with what's new! I have to record a live jazz ensemble in stereo for a movie soundtrack. I can't mic every single instrument, but I thought I could put either a pair of mics or a stereo mic in front of the band and feed the signals...

I did that, but I only got a mono signal. Maybe my soldering skills are a bit rusty ... I found a diagram which shows how it should be wired: So that would be different from what you say, no?

Thanks for your reply! This will be an unbalanced 3.5mm stereo plug (for a camcorder) on a stereo mic (Audio Technica 24Pro). The cables that are coming out from the mic has two pairs of red and yellow wires, plus a shield. Do you think the above (from my post) will work??
