I use Bandlab and MixPad. Both are free. Bandlab has a button for listening to what you are recording and latency fix. Bandlab make an interface for iOS and Android, called Link Analog. I record in Bandlab and edit in MixPad.

I've been recording for many years and have a charity shop PC with Audacity, a mic and mic stand. All other gear is freeware VST plugins from vst4free.com, although basic gear is built into Audacity. The whole lot cost under £80. Audacity is freeware from Download | Audacity(R)
Would someone with a freeware VST mastering plugin please master one of my rock tracks, send it back and tell me which plugin it was and what settings? An export of the settings would be easiest.
Melted me within the first few notes. All that needs changing is bringing the singing forward in the mix, but almost everyone needs to do that when starting out.
