    mixing and mastering software question

Hey all, I'm currently recording to a Tascam DP008EX as a scratch pad and a Tascam DP32SD for finished recordings. The quality of the DP008 recordings is excellent and I've been transferring some takes that I like into the DP32 as keepers. My question is this. What is a good software...

    Is this a joke?

I think 'smoothjazzerchicago109' may have bought #5 already but is going under the alias of 'dirt jiffylube' at music123 due to his extreme embarassment. I think he should go for the Washburn, though.

    Is this a joke?

My favorite reviewer is the genius (liar) who owns four, hates them all, and plans on buying another if he breaks his latest one. Classic.

Are you in a band/do you gig?

I strongly encourage it. There is nothing like it when the band is firing on all cylinders, the crowd is into it and the sound is perfect. Getting all three of those things happening at the same time is the end all / be all of human existance....well maybe not that great, but it's close...

is a lad a work talking crap

Good link. Real shame about the lost guitars due to drug addiction. Glad that Slash did not become another rock statistic.

Room sound out of guitar mixes

Put the 58 away and use the 57. About two inches away from the grille and about 2-3 inches out from the center of the speaker cone is a good place to start. Avoid using 2 or more mics in homerecording situations. You are only asking for phase problems. Try recording distorted guitars twice...

    First retube...

Another plus 1 for Bob and eurotubes. After adding the bias mod to my 5150 and adding a set of jj's from bob...well...wow! Another note...There is no bias adjustment on the Classic 30. Just add a set of matched power tubes (Bob will set you up) and you are good to go.

    Gibson ES339???

Well, I've played quite a few ES models over the years and have been impressed by them all. I do find the 330,335,355 bodies a little cumbersome for my tastes. I think it is the years of playing the smaller LP and L6S bodies that make me feel that way. One thing that really impresses me about...

    Gibson ES339???

Thanks guys. I am really tempted. As for the neck thickness, both my LP's have the slimmer 60's neck. My L6S necks are even thinner yet. They seem to be much easier on my carpal tunnel and aging, tired hands.

    Gibson ES339???

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Memphis-ES339-Semi-Hollow-Electric-Guitar?sku=515256 Anyone played one or own one? I'm about to come into a little 'play' money and think I might just get me one. $1799.00 for a new model straight out of the custom shop. Being a Les Paul guy but...

    Kramer guitars.

I have a "Neptune, NJ" Pacer (HSS) from the eighties and I've owned it second hand since 1987. It is my "#2" live guitar (my LP Standard is #1) and it's tuned 1/2 step down for Alice in Chains, Nirvana, etc. Dark, moody tone with a distinctive growl no matter what pickups are installed. I...

getting the whole guitar in tune

I'm didn't see it mentioned though it's possible my short attention span may have made me miss it :o, but pickups set too high, especially single coil pickups, can wreak havoc with intonation and cause other problems as well... 'wolf' tones, ghost notes, poor sustain, fret buzz etc. etc.

Annual Humidity post - SUPER IMPORTANT - READ THIS!!!!!!! (long, but worth it)

Thanks for taking the time to post your reminder Light. Probably saved some guitars from certain crack demise. Here's a link to a cheap little tool for all of you stringed instrument owners. I have one in my studio and one in my shop. Both areas are maintained between 40-50% all year long...

    Rattling Handles Marshall 1960B

Expensive but will fix the problem. The plastic handles are crap. You could also try making a gasket out of 1/8" cork to put between the cab and the handle flange. I personally would switch to the metal handles...
