Mixing distorted guitars Rick Rubin style

A lot of big guitar sounds these days are also achieved using splitters to run two, or three amps at the same time, then double or triple tracked, and blended later in the mix. I had a chance to meet Mike Fraser (Aerosmith/AC/DC) yesterday at the Warehouse (Brian Adam's studio), and his latest...

Getting a wider vocal, bigger sound

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to try a few of these options. As far as Saw Studio goes, I really like it so far - I'm using it at a studio here in town. I still have a bit of a learning curve to go though ... :D

Getting a wider vocal, bigger sound

Just doing a quick mix with a rock tune that has a lot of guitars going on. Any suggestions other than double tracking, to give the vocal track a bigger, wider sound? I have lots of plug ins, Waves bundle, etc ...

I agree that the kick could come up a hair - I think the same goes for the bass track also. This version is unmastered - I'd like to hear what a little overall compression does to the balance of the mix. Anyway, thanks for the input.

    New One

Here's my take - overall good job Fangar. I like the drum sounds - the dirty guitars could have a little more meat for this type of song IMO. This has nothing to do with the mix, but I would shorten the tune a little also. Just my opinion though, for whatever it's worth. :-)

Thanks Chris, Amy does have a really good voice. Any other critiques? By the way, this was our first stab at Country pop. (Except the singer of course). :-)
