When you hear the reverb, are you hearing this through the speakers in your listening space? In this scenario, sound will reflect about and sound more reverb-y in a not so well treated space. And if you do not hear the reverb in headphones, this might be your answer. (I listened to your...

Hmmm. Maybe try this (and if it doesn't work, easy to undo to try something else)
Edit > Audio Hardware Setup
If the "Release ASIO Driver in Background" box is ticked, untick it, and if UNticked, then tick it. Either way, click OK and Save.
Either way, easy to "undo" so no harm-no foul if...
I lurk waaaay more than I post. Hello all! Having seen this thread and just purchased an sm57 from B&H in NYC USA a couple of months ago, it never occurred to check country of origin. I checked it out (I have plenty of other mics made in China). It's not marked on the mic itself, but the...

I use CEP 2.0 on a laptop with vista home basic without any problems. I use mine with the beta cd burner software provided by CEP back in the day. I've noticed the older CEP program doesn't recognize some of the newer cd burners, but other than that, no problems.

Fair enough. After all, I've dealt with this issue for a year or so. Whats 4 hours? :)
I'm a big fan of eq. At times I'll even subtract frequencies in music that I end up boosting on voice - Sometimes for voiceover it's a great way to make a voice ledgible in a busy music/fx mix.
I really...
Good thought - thank you - I do have chunks of fibreglass scattered about. And it does help. A lot. But again, the problem with too much low freq occurs with just this mic.

I like this mic a lot on my voice. I use it with an FMR RNP, and it sounds "bigger" and more natural in the upper mids than another mic I use for VO that cost nearly 5x as much. However, with my baritone speaking voice and the dark color to the MXL, I'm always eq-ing out around 150hz to keep...
