    MP has more options for different (not necessarily better) hardware, LE has more options for software expansion. IMO, the LE interfaces are quite good.

    LE and MP are basically the same, accept that the complete production toolkit is only for LE (for post production). HD is a totally different animal, tied to specific hardware and is MUCH more expensive.

    if you have an mbox 2, you actually have 4 inputs at your disposal. the spdif inputs add two more inputs. you can get a stereo preamp with spdif outputs, or, like i did once, use a fx processor with spdif output as a makeshift AD converter.

LE has no automatic delay compensation for plugins. however, most plugins dont introduce any delay. you can check plugin delays by opt + apple (alt + ctrl on pc) clicking on the black level display until you see "dly". if there is a delay on a track, there will be a numeric value displayed.

    another quick note. given this is a manual process, you should hold off adding plugins that introduce delay until you are done tracking. otherwise your new tracks will be out of sync. separate the "tracking" and the "mixing" stage.

    two thoughts. 1) learn how to spell "engineer". 2) if they paid you for your time to record them live, the masters are theirs to do whatever they want. however, if you did it for free, you own the masters and have no obligation to give them to them.
