I recently bought one of these too, thought it was crap until I realised you could reduce the latency level in the control panel...now there's barely any. Seems like a good piece of kit, can't do anything with it at the moment though as I've got massive latency problems due to my computer...
It's a FCA202 Behringer soundcard, and the only programme that seems to work with my new gear is the freebie I got with the soundcard: LiveLite4 by Ableton. Not particuarly good but does the job.
Another noob question I'm afraid, but I've just bought a mixer, soundcard and condenser mic and I'm having massive latency problems, up to about half a second, which obviously makes it impossible to multitrack. It's very annoying. I once attempted to install a new sound driver (ASIO4) but it...
Surely it all just depends on the music involved, eg. if I felt a certain moment of a piece required/would sound good with reverb, I would add it so you could notice it, but otherwise I'd just use the essential reverb you need to make a track sound good.
Thanks for all the really helpful replies, especially the link killthepixel.
I am thinking about buying these two:

as they come in a pack for a hundred quid. People have said I don't particuarly need a mixer, so perhaps I...
Thanks, all that's really helpful, however - audio interface? What's one of those? Is it part of the computer, or is it separate? And if I did buy an analogue mixer, is there any way I could hook that up to my computer or would I need a digital one for that? Is there any point in doing that...
I usually use 5: 1=Kick (AKG egg mic)
2=Hi-hat (SM57)
3=Snare (SM58)
4&5=Overheads (Acoustic-technica condensers)
The kick always sounds pretty good, but the overheads add a lot of hiss and the hi-hat is hard to get right. Sometimes I...
Right, sorry if this is a stupid question but I really don't have much of a clue about home recording.
I own a computer soon to have Adobe Audition on it, and I'm about to buy a condenser mic to record various instruments with. Do I need a mixer (I was thinking about buying the Behringer UB802...
