I should probably check the documentation for that mixer but... I tought if you use insert and plug into it half-way you get the signal right after mixers preamp so you can ajust level with gain nob, and bypass everything else but the pre...

wouldn't you want to record pre-eq and pre-fader? I don't know if one way is better or more preferable then the other... well I guess "pre" should be better because it's less "effected" ...

well 10 chanels counting S/PDIF ... but that wouldn't connect through your mixer

I think all you have to do is connect inserts (pluged half way) of your mixer to inputs of your delta card and you are good to go for all 8 chanels

Maybe you should post what you are trying to do, your budget, and gear you have already and you might get better suggestions....

well ... usualy computer interfaces that are made to connect mics to directly are made with XLR inputs and preamps built in. So you COULD connect your mic directly to this box but it wouldn't work because you need to amplify the signal that comes from the mic before you send it to this box...

Well RCA is same as on your TV or VCR or DVD, where you have Left, Right and Video connections, those are RCA.... I think you would need some type of preamp to connect a mic to this interface, stand alone pre or mixer would do... well actualy what do you mean by "lead" ... "plug"? ... like end...

Thanks Polaris that's what I wanted to hear... :) So even lowest Athlon 64 would be faster then Athlopn XP 3200 or whatever.. right? I guess I was wrong about price difference, after more time looking into it 64s are more expensive then XP, I think it wasn't clear whether 64s actualy offer...

Hey thanks everyone, I thought this thread "died" prematurely ... :) I think I definetly want to build a system ... But am split between Athlon XP and 64 ... ? The price point seems almost the same but is 64 beneficial now or only when software catches up? Also it seems XP MBs are...

I have ACID 2.0 Style also and it worked for me up untill last night .... I couldn't go less then 75bpm ... Acid 5 doesn't work on Win 98 ... what??? and I can't upgrade to 4.0 ... what's up with that? Found and downloaded free Acid eXpress 4.0 ... it only does 10 tracks ... dope!!! Well...

you probably right ... I will look into refurbished Dells etc... any paticular model I should look into? I just want to record music and have more tracks and be able to use plugins more freely, so I do need as much power for the money as I can get ...

what about having two different profiles in XP? rather then two bottable systems? i sow that mentioned here on BBS and it makes sence... no rebooting just re-logon ... I haven't tried it but seems like a reasonable idea

Also... I remember at some time there were people on this board offering to build computers for people for parts cost, just for the fun of it :) ... anyone does that? sure would be nice to skip the "component decision making" stage... phew...
