Thanks Dave! Yes...the audio interface is the next thing I will get...and soon. I ,just for the life of me, couldn't figure out what was going on with this thing. Will probably get a Focusrite or Steinberg interface very shortly.
FINALLY found the problem. Downloaded Realtek drivers and had to go in and bump up the playback level (which was set to 0 for some strange reason) up to max. Everything seems to work ok now! GEEZ what a headache!! Thanks everyone for their help and advice!!
Thank you sir. I'll check in the new OS I'm running. I was using Vista on my old machine as well. I'm so old school that I'm still getting used to Windows 10 pro. Thanks for the info!

I really appreciate your help and effort looking into this Mr. Grumpy! I spent all weekend making every connection that I could possibly think of... to no avail. I had an older pc that I could get it to work on some how, but I've got a newer one (still not new) with Windows 10 on it, but it...
I have my pc speakers y'd into the line out along with the tape in. That seems to be the only way I can get the guitar into the computer and back out. I have studio monitors that are plugged into the control room out. I switched them around...but the same problem.
This works ...but the guitar now only comes out of the headphones and the backing track comes out of the monitors! :) Thanks for your help....that's the closest I've got yet!!
Thanks for your reply! I'll dig around in my DAW for some info. Pressing "tape to control room" takes the guitar out of everything. Depressing it adds the guitar. Pressing "Tape to Mix" adds guitar and backing music I want to record with. But that's not desired for recording because I'm not...
