PreSonus Firepod ~ a curious problem and its (interim) solution

Mark me down for another ass saved by this fix!! I read this thread a couple of years back and was waiting for the day that I needed it. That day unfortunately arrived a couple of weeks ago, but I ordered a pack of jumpers and went to work last night...and I'm not generally the type to pop...

Web Series from my Home Studio

February's episode. I held a voting contest last year so my viewers could vote on an artist or band to perform. These dudes brought in the most votes. Here's a few songs by Sagacious Zoo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCA6eNYocO8

External mic preamp use with presnous firestudio

You're probably right, actually :) ...that's why I said to correct me.

External mic preamp use with presnous firestudio

You'll want to use a standard 1/4" TS cable out from the preamp into one of your line inputs (channels 3-8 in your case)...I believe these channels will not be affected by the gain knob when using the 1/4" input. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    Mic, preamp, or interface

I think your monitors are in need of an upgrade more than your signal chain. I started on the exact same speakers (AV30), mixed an entire album on them! But even a modest step up would be a big improvement. The AV30s are now my kids' computer speakers :D

    The sound of vintage recordings

Took my lunch break just after reading this thread, and the song below came on the radio...got me thinking about this topic. This is a brand new single! Both artists' bodies of work heavily feature a vintage sound to the production, and I absolutely love it!! The guest vocalist, Leon Bridges...

    The sound of vintage recordings

I have a deep interest in creating older sounding recordings, but little understanding or patience to make it work right. In the last year, I've added a nice preamp to my chain where if I crank it, I can hear some of that old timey gain...but I find myself defaulting to a more modern sounding...

    Your first condensor MIC was?

Mine was the cheap-o standard. The MXL 990/991 kit. I have two of those sets which still see occasional use (mainly the shotgun mic since it's my only pencil condenser). I got the first set about 7 years ago, and being able to afford that set helped me start to take audio engineering a little...

Here's this months episode! This is the first time I've recorded violin in any form or fashion...but she just runs it through a small Fender amp, LOL! So it wasn't much of a stretch for me, but I enjoyed this session nonetheless. I hope you do too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE0ZRN9C5dw

Bonus episode featuring our first cover band. Presenting Panic, Dallas' premier tribute to The Smiths. I was excited to work with this band because for years, this singer (Josh Venable) hosted The Adventure Club, a radio show on The Edge in D/FW spotlighting some great independent, unknown...

Proper use of Plugins / effects in Cubase

This is a 4 year-old video, but you may find it helpful. I'm guessing the process is probably still pretty much the same, but I don't use Cubase so I'm not 100% sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yjnVqjufs0
