I've finished editing an interview I recorded initially on multitrack view and mixed down (cut bits out, did some NR and compressing, and am now happy with the result)...BUT...
I now want to add a bit of talking at the end after the interview formally finishes, and put some intro music in...
Thanks thajeremy - meant to get back and acknowledge your advice at the time. Have just noticed I failed to do that. Apologies. Oh, and your refresher mini-course worked perfectly!
Look, this is ridiculously basic of me, but I've forgotten this stuff after an intensive 2 months using CEP a couple of years ago. If someone could remind me in simple terms, would be most appreciative...
I've recorded an interview that is going to be mixed down to MP3 format for a podcast...
Thanks, Farview - I'll try the sort of settings you mention. Not sure what you mean by "make sure the quiet ones are still into the reduction by about a db", but I'll probably get to understand when I try compressing as you recommend.
OK, thanks a lot guys. Will try your suggestions. Looks like there's no easy way out. My fault for having the levels too far up at source.
Cheers
Ross
PS: Wonder what would happen if I decreased the amplitude to bring the peaks down, then applied Normalise?
Hi Jammer429
Thanks for your fast response and generous offer - much appreciated. I was really just wanting to find out what I should be using to try to even up the vols...it seems that compression is the way to go? I was hoping for a quick solution, but I know I can go through the recording...
I'm editing an interview I did recently, which will end up on my blog as a podcast. I used an omnidirectional mike placed in the centre of a table, and there were 4 interviewees sitting around at varying distances from the mike, and speaking at varying volumes. The recording levels were...
Thanks, danny.guitar. Since I posted, a friend has also recommended CDex. I have downloaded and installed it and got the recording into CEP in WAV format - just what I wanted. But thanks for going to the effort of posting a pic to make it clear for me...appreciated.
Been away from Cool Edit Pro for too long! I've forgotten some basics.:o
I have a recorded interview on CD that I want to put into Cool Edit Pro to edit and mix down in MP3 format to post on my blogsite as a podcast.
I can't work out how to actually get the recording on the CD into Cool Edit...
Yes, you're quite right, Dobro. I knew there was no way of really isolating the vocal, given the nature of the rehearsal recording, but I thought there might be some extreme settings or some filter that would make the vocal stand out enough to have a better chance of discerning the lyrics...
I have some old rehearsal cassette tapes of original songs I've transferred to my HD and have been messing around with in CEP. I am trying to discern the lyrics, but the vocals are way down, submerged beneath an onslaught of rehearsal room din of distorted guitar, drums etc. Is there any sort...
