You might be able to fix it in melodyne in polyphonic mode -- it might be able to pull out the vocal line.

This is new to me. Is it a verified source? I always thought the melody was composed independent of Jimmy's music but this is very reminiscent.

Lots of tuning issues with the vocals and the slide guitar. Wondering if you don't hear those because they are quite obvious? Do you have trouble with pitches? You've got all the ingredients there so you just need to re-approach this and you could really nail it.
