    "CONFLICTED" - Melodic Punk

Thanks! I wrote the song around wanting to use that and the borrowed chord @ 1:26. This is definitely a guitar driven record, so they are on top of everything - but I hear you with the cymbals. I went back and forth a bunch on the levels and settled on where they are now; however, they are...

    "CONFLICTED" - Melodic Punk

Hi all, it's been a really long time since I posted last (2014!) but it's good to be back. Wanted to post this here and share as I learned a lot from this forum over the years. This is a track off my band's debut album which releases next month. We recorded/mixed everything ourselves. I'm...

    Punk Will Not Die

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Mixing drums has always been my biggest shortcoming, so I'm sure I'll go back and tweak it a little more here and there. And who says this isn't punk? This is totally the early 90's so-cal punk style! haha.

    Punk Will Not Die

I had the itch to record a punk tune and more importantly, captured the magic of my drunken studio neighbor on my phone and needed a place to showcase it. hehe Punk Will Not Die https://soundcloud.com/decenter/punk-will-not-die I hear the Unknown Road coming through my stereo I play it as...

    Female singer needed!

I have a band/recording project that goes by the name of DECENTER. I've recorded a track and would really like a female singer to record six lines for the song. I'm looking for clear voice (no rasp) and no excessive vibrato. If you're interested, please respond here and I'll contact you. I've...

DECENTER - Falling Away (mix v1)

Okay - thanks everybody for the critiques. I definitely hear what you guys are saying. I'm going to re-do the bass with a different amp and see if I can get a better tone out of it. I'm going to adjust the eq I had on the SSL EQ on my guitar bus bring down the overall guitar volume a couple db...

looking on opinions for PANNING---left, right middle

Did you get that from the CLA method, or just trial and error? My usual setup is to have kick and snare dead center. Then my OH's hard panned L and R. I have the toms panned pretty hard (like 75L, 30L or R, and 75R for 3 toms) to get more separation. Then I double track guitars, so rhythm...

DECENTER - Falling Away (mix v1)

Hey all, here's a song I just completed. I tried some techniques I don't usually use while mixing this one. Please take a listen and let me know what you think DECENTER - Falling Away https://soundcloud.com/decenter/falling-away-mix-v1

Judas Priest's Breaking The Law (Death Metal Version)

Totally. I don't have the patience for that either. And I don't have the disposable cash for one of the more expensive apps that "humanizes" the drums for you.

Judas Priest's Breaking The Law (Death Metal Version)

Yeah, where are the blast beats? Where's the rapid fire double bass? ;) You've also got a case of "guitar player trying to write a drum part". You need to work on getting your drums programmed to sound like a real drummer is playing them. There's way more nuance that goes into even the most...

    GearFest Mixing Contest

What the hell is going on here? Did I miss something? Did tons of lurkers all decide to suddenly start posting?

A Punk Looks at 40 - Greg's birthday song to himself!

Am I the only one that thinks the way you sing "hopefully" is strange? It's like it's drawn out a little long or the cadence is strange. It's like I'm expecting to hear it as "HOPE-fully" or "hopeful-LY" but instead it's "HOPE-FUL-LY" and it sounds strange. Not sure if I articulated that well...

    DECENTER - Conflicted

Hey guys, I had shared an old crappy reference track for this tune a while back. I finished tracking it over the weekend. https://soundcloud.com/decenter/decenter-conflicted Conflicted Never had it easy, always making life harder for myself There were too many options, and one by they're...

    Lost VST plugins

Having used Sonar for many years, I enjoy 64 bit, but it does seem less stable. One advantage of X1 and X2 64 bit is the "precision engine". From the Cakewalk website: The 64-bit Double Precision Engine provides greater resolution, meaning more accurate audio reproduction and more headroom...

    Recording a demo, which one?

OP asked for a hardware recommendation and that was my response. The vocals disappearing isn't a hardware issue - it's the OP not understanding phase cancelling.
