    x86 bridged

As far as I can tell, just the amount of RAM your system can support. 32 bit OS's are limited to 4 Gig max, but can only access something like 3 to 3.5 Gig depending on your system. To where as Windows 7 Professional 64 bit can access up to 192 Gig and Windows XP Professional 64 bit is limited...

    KRK Rokit 6 or 8?

Personally, I will never buy KRK again. I bought a set of Rokit 8's around two years ago. Around 9 months I had one speaker start making crackling noises, but only at certain freqs (whatever freq the D string on a bass is). I contacted KRK, which took a while, and they were moving offices so...

    Bounce?

Duh, why didn't I think of that! :drunk: So lost in DAW that I was asking about going old-school without even thinking about how it used to be done...sheesh. Thanks man. Maybe I am screwing something up, but I couldn't make the other ways works. It would take the two tracks down to one...

    Bounce?

I have to be missing something completely simple, but here is where I am. I am editing drum parts and had to add an extra 1/8th note on the hi-hat. So I found a clean 1/8th strike, copied it, and used an additional couple of extra tracks to line it up and make sure it sounds natural. Now I want...

You know you're a crap drummer when...

I've punched myself in the side of the head, hit my head with a stick, hell I even threw up on my snare once, but I've never punched myself in the junk. Kudos Sir. :D

    Anybody Using Bluenoise?

I downloaded and used it with Reaper a year or two ago. If memory serves, I set it up like any other VSTi, had Reaper rescan the folder, and it worked. Looking at his website, it looks like it's come a LONG way since I played with it. I stopped using it because it was basically just a 4...

    Overhead mics for <$200

I was using a stereo pair of MXL 993's: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/MXL-993-Condenser-Microphones-Stereo-Pair?sku=273171 I am actually getting ready to put them on eBay (with shockmounts) as I've replaced them with NT5's. If you're interested, PM me.

    Lets be creative

With what little experience I have, I would guess at approaching it like an orchestra with lots of overheads and room mics?

Unfortunately, Evans pulled that off of their site as far as I can tell. Maybe they are adding their new lines to it...or at least I hope they are. That chart was very helpful.

Racks vs Stands in the Studio

Perfectionist, yes. Just not talented enough to do anything about it...yet. ;)

Racks vs Stands in the Studio

Learned that lesson the hard way years ago when we first started recording. Thought we'd be clever and mount all of the mics on the rack with LP Claws. I can't put into words how awful that sounded. Every surface struck started a rumble of shit through every mic.

    Les Paul with maple neck?

Holy shit, I just spit soup all over my computer! Hahaha... :D

Racks vs Stands in the Studio

I have had my drums on a Pearl ICON rack for years and it never occurred to me before, but in a studio setting would individual stands be better? I was thinking to myself that since the rack is essentially a piping system it probably conducts energy from one surface to another quite well...

    Torn Between Interfaces!

I use a PreSonus Firestudio 2626 and have had zero problems with it. There seems to have been a bunch of people that had driver issue, somehow I lucked out. I think partly because I purpose built my DAW based on known good hardware that was listed on the PreSonus Forums. The only complaint...

    Recommended drum heads

I always change the bottoms with the tops. They may not get a beatin', but they are usually thinner and stretch too. I usually use Evans Genera Reso heads, but I have used G1's and even G2's once. I wouldn't recommend the G2's for resonants unless you want a really, really dead tom. It was...
