    Attn: Tascam Users!

I have used it to record live. I use it to record midi tracks directly into channel strips then add my drums and my bro adds his bass. I use external effect boxes to add sauce using each channel's pre-fade effect out? I bounce effect onto other channels. I will sometimes use the onboard fx...

    Progressive Electttttronicccca......here>>

Just checked it out. Right on! I like it. I don't even attempt to keep up with the subgenres. It doesn't really matter anyway. Just come up with a great song and let the public decide how to fit it in.

Phase shift measurement after multiband compression.

My understanding is that when you apply compression on the lower freqs to make the stereo mix more punchy can cause phase shifting in the compressed freq range. My thinking would be that one would need to adjust the phase back then add it back into the stereo mix. This is sometimes necessary -...

    Mini Hats vs. Hi Hats

Its really the style of music your playing that will dictate the size of your hats. The size should not affect the recording quality provided you follow good recording practices. Look into lighter weight hats in the 14" size. Also, non lathed cymbals can really cut.

    Used cymbals off ebay?

I have some cymbals I'm trying to sell. They are Istanbul Agop's 22" Sutlan Jazz Ride 22" Turk Ride - Great for rock! 22" Sultan Flat Ride - Great flat ride. A flexible ride. 6" Turk Bell 6" Turk Splash 14" Turk hi-hats. These are not too heavy. Makes them smooth. But they get loud when...

Active Member needs help: Should I go electric?

I know its a matter of taste, but I could not get warmed up to those mesh heads. In fact, to me, they felt less real than Yamaha's Real Pad technology. The pads on my DTXTREME IIs are wonderful. They have a great bounce, and the kick pad, when used with a rubber beater feel just like a...

    highly talented drum video inside

I wouldn't say he had no groove. It was definitely a "Death Metal" groove though. When playing that fast, the accents don't always make sense since they could slow the feeling of the song down. And I would guess that slowing down is the last thing on these musicians minds. Hehehe...

    How does this computer look?

Your gonna want to make sure your system bus is 800Mhz. This will pick up for the little less speedy AMD core and less processor cache ( most Intel dual cores have 2MBytes x 2 [ one for each head ] ). However, there system buses run at 533Mhz. Personally, I don't believe the AMD - even with...

    Reaper....all other multi-track software is a rip!

One reason why its less expensive is that it doesn't come with a wave editor. It has a setting which allows you to launch your wave editor from REAPER. It also requires an instrument to play midi. So there are some underlying architectural reasons why the price is so low. This is not a bad...

    Drummers, need your help...

I'm not that tickled by the constant pummeling of the double bass. It really gets redundant after a while. I would continue the double bass since thats a staple of this style of music. However, at 1:20, I began to get bored. This is where I would start. Maybe stop the double bass for a...

Active Member needs help: Should I go electric?

I played adrums for decades. I switched to edrums ( Dtxtreme IIs ) going on 3 years ago. I would not go back now. Too easy to record. Many more creative avenues with edrums. No turning back now. I'm having more fun now than I have had in years playing these edrums. However, thats just me.

for anyone that attempts to master on their own... what does your chain look like?

Use visual tools. Exploit visual tools. Don't get rid of your freq. analyzer. Take advantage of an RTA. I would never bring my mix to a mastering engineer that says never use that stuff. Our ears are to be enjoyed, but not trusted. Don't ignore your other senses, they all contribute...

    firewire or usb

When we compare USB 2.0, to Firewire we are splitting hairs. For most situations, you will not notice a difference between the two. However, if one is inclined to hook up an line protocol analyzer for the two. I'm sure one will find measurable differences between the two since Firewire was...
