Help! Never used a mic before and finally in the market....

I am in the market to purchase a microphone to record both my acoustic/electric guitar and my electric guitar into the Mic input of a Terratec DMX 6 fire. I can't seem to find much information on the specs of the input for this card and don't know enough about impedance matching and phantom...

    Terratec sound cards?

They compare favorably to M-Audio cards and use the same converters. I recommend Terratec. They make very good products and customer support is good as well. And yes, there is an audible difference in sound quality between 16 bit and 24 bit recordings. The differences are barely audible...

    will this be o.k?

As with most DAW's, the clicking and popping is most likely a result of hard drive problems either in configuration or the hardware itself. I get the same thing from every soundcard I've used and it's always related to either a latency config or a noisy hard drive causing electrical...

Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96 and multitrack recording, or some other card?

If you're not recording an entire band at one time, the Terractec card will work fine. It has the exact same A/D/A converters as the M Audio cards use. Sound quality is not an issue, it's impeccable. 69shadesofred has an obviously biased agenda if you bother to check his other posts. He's a...

How can I "tighten" up my midi drums?

I have a pretty decent sense of rhythm (even though I'm a guitarist):D and my midi drumming isn't horrible, but I'd like to be able to tighten it up somewhat. How does the quantitize feature work? When I used it, it through my kick drum into some awful off beats. Any ideas or solutions...

    multitrack recording with or withoutmx6

Doesnt look possible.... I think you'd need an external mixer.

What Sound Card Should I Get?

Terratec is leaps and bounds ahead of Creative. The comparison has no merit.

    terratec soundcard

I'd say decidedly not...... It's a very good recording card and designed for that purpose. I've had the SBLive, Audigy and Audigy 2 and non of them came close the to the Terratec 6 fire when it came to recording transparency. Do your homework a little bit and you'll find it uses the same...

using different drivers for different applications

I can't think of a reason I'd want to, but I suppose it's somehow possible. I was under the impression that MME drivers were falling by the wayside.

    Wall of Sound?

Good point, I do recall them being involved with that album in one capacity or another.;)

    A Before and After Mix

They sound similar..... Definitely needs more guitar up front and the vocals were overpowering the entire mix.

    Which Of These Soundcards????

using different drivers for different applications

I do the same thing as far as asio for some stuff and wdm for sonar and it doesn't seem to cause me any noticeable problems. Are you experiencing noise right now?

    Wall of Sound?

How would anything like that differ from say , an Alan Parsons production like "Dark Side of The Moon" or his solo colaborations? There are so many layers to that music that you can peel them away for years, listen after listen and you still hear something new everytime....:)

Recording the crowd when recording a show?

Not Minneapolis by chance was it? Just caught something on the news about a similar incident.
