it does sound a ton like a record player. wiggling the cables didn't effect the noise at all. I tried plugging in a dynamic mic to the line, no crackling sound. Also if there is no mic plugged into the cables, no crackling sound.

I have AKG C214 that runs through a Nady SMPS-1X phantom power to a line 6 UX1 into my laptop running reason 7. I know that the mic is picking up room sounds, but does anyone have any idea what this crackling noise could be? Thank you for any/all responses. https://soundcloud.com/dan5050/crackle
