    Phasing

Put the guitar and hte computer as far apart as possible. Make sure that Mic 1 and Mic 2 are the same distance from their respective sources. Try to use a cardioid on the computer mic, as it will recect the most direct guitar noise. Flip the phase on mic 2, and lower it's volume to about the...

    Phasing

Once again, the GIGO machine is in effect. I didn't want ot have to do this, but since you all seem to think that "OMFG Phase = Time" and "You ned two waves" then I'm going to have to point this litte fact out to you: THe wave equation, in it's most correct form, is: d^2u/dt^2 = c^2(delta u) -...

    Phasing

Nah, it's cool, my main qualm is that people will go off and start quoting things that, whilst "correct" aren't the most correct way of stating things. This leads to people forming the wrong ideas later on. I would also argue that by switching the polarity of the cable (a static vector) you're...

    Phasing

ALthought the rest of your post was true and correct, I would like to contest this point. The term "Phase reverse" comes from two concepts. Firstly, the one that most of us will be used to referes to the "physical" phase reversal, where you reverse pins 2 and 3 (or tip and ring... whatever)...

    Tv

Further to the guys saying that hte mix eingineers don't notice the rise: I've done a few mixes for TV- If you ask any questions about what's going on downstream of your console you'll usually get told the "shut the fuck up", but usually in slightly harsher language... I doubt that it's the mix...

Need Help Fast!!! Alesis HD24 input problems

Are you sure you're monitoring the inputs? If the blue light below the meter isn't on, then you're metering hte output, not the input. I severly doubt that you aren't getting the analouge signal. Try pressing hte "all input" button to switch all meters to monitor the input signal. If that...

This is also a double post. Please don't do this to us, it's confusing and makes us angry.

    just a random question

Rosettas into a behri? well, weirder things have happened... It also depends on the console, some are all digital (like a D5 etc) which would take an AES/EBU from the bit-collectors and then make a mix, other wise it's something like Bit-Collector -> D/A -> Console -> output media for mixing...

    FS:Soundtracs MX

I'm trying to sell my Soundtracs. It's a 32-Frame MX series, with 24 mono modules and 4 stereo modules. I've replaced the majority of the op/pre amps and all teh dud caps/pot etc. It sounds pretty good and comes with a roadcase. It's located in Sydney, Aus. I'm selling it becuase I'm going...

    Mixing tutorial website

pfst spelling != grammar. I've never claimed to have good spelling. Grammar on the other hand... Plus, it was about 2 am when I wrote that, give a man a break... Besides, I was writing a comment, not a tutorial...

    Mic Position

Short answer: no. Longer answer: There are a number of things that would mak eyou want to hang your mic upsdie down, like tube heat dissipation, seeing lyrics sheets, getting singer to breathe more correctly etc. But, in terms of getting a non-tube condensor and flipping it upside-down, there...

    Mixing tutorial website

Argh, turn off the auto-music! Once that's gone, I'll read some more. I managed to make it through the intro page before I got the shits and closed the window. Just a couple of points tho: The saying is "Fasten your seat belt", not "seat bell". Also, look up the difference between your and...

Total Newbie needs sorting out! (Sorry!)

Most software suites these days have some form of synth ability. VST is "Virtual Studio Technology", which (if memory serves) was startd by Steinberg, but I'm fairly sure it's been taken up by the majority of software vendors (I'm a cubase man myself, so I can't really tell you about other...
