Ciarriadh

My parents bought me a used Hofner 172 solid body guitar when I was 12 years old. I spent years strumming open chords, always hankering to write my own material. Then, one day, I decided to release some of my emotions by recording them with music. So, there it is, I prefer writing to performing and I could happily spend the rest of my days being creative if my work life didn't get in the way. My songs, they are reflections of what I see around me - some are fantasy and some are autobiographical - you decide!

My three greatest epiphanies:
1) Purchase of the "Beatles Complete" songbook.
2) Discovery of barre chords.
3) Discovery of 5-string open-G guitar tuning (thank you to Keith Richards)

For the nerdy types (like me), recordings are made on a PC with a Core 2 Duo E8400 3ghz 6mb 1333fsb processor. Sound goes in via a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R, processed by Steinberg Cubase Essential 5 and out on a pair of ADAM A7X Studio Monitors. Vocals and acoustic stuff is via a Marshall V67G mic, or a Sennhiesser e852S mic.
Instruments: Alesis DM6 USB drumkit with BFD2 software; M-Audio Axiom 49 Keyboard and 5 guitars; a Lorenzo Jumbo 12-string acoustic, a Hofner Galaxie (Very playable Chinese copy strung as a 5-string open-G tuning), Westone Thunder 1, a Brian May Signature Red Special, a Squire Fender bass and a Fender CD-140SCE Electro-acoustic guitar. Most recording to date has been done in a spare room that incorporates my home made sound booth which is good for about a 23dB reduction at mid-range frequencies.
After moving to Wales, I am planning a new studio in a double garage.
