i think they did... i use logic 5.5 platinum for pc, but i only see logic 6 in stores and online... so if you could find that version for pc (if you use a pc, if not then get version 6) get it.
lookup emagix's Logic. its one of my favorite programs to use with midi. it has a nicer, cleaner look than most programs out there, and very powerful. it is german made, so it will take a little time to figure everything out, but when you do you can edit virtually everything. it supports VST and...
if youre going for professional level recording, concentrate on microphones rather than the "ass end" of the recording chain, as ive heard it called here. and if you have ANY questions about mics, goto http://www.hr-faq.org, and all of your questions will be answered.
i have bobby's Mixing Engineer's Handbook, which i really like, but ive read reviews about how his mastering handbook isnt up to par with his mixing one. if you could post that link SoMm that would be awesome.
can anyone reccomend a very good book on mastering? i've read that "Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science" is a good one, but is there any others that i should check out, or possibly stay away from at all costs?
thanks for all the replies, i think i just needed this assurance before i spent 600+ dollars on equiptment. looks like im going with zzounds, for the free shipping, no tax, and they were the only place that had everything i wanted. i looked at americanmusical, and i love the idea of 3 payments...
if your volume is really low, try normalizing the wav file. it should take away a lot of the background noise since you arent jacking your speakers up to full volume.
sometimes i wish i had a mac laptop, so one of the only things i could buy would be a mbox. i think your making the best desicion, although some would argue otherwise.
if you upgrade to windows xp you cant use protools free, which may be good news or bad news depending on your view. a lot more ram would be wise, and a better soundcard. cool edit pro is easy and works well, so i dont think you'll need any higher-end software. fruiyloops is probably the best...
Re: where'd you get the v67g
i got mine at zzounds for 100 bucks. but the v67g doesnt come with a shockmount, so thats another 20 bucks. i went to humbuckermusic and they dont have any shockmounts :( . plus at zzounds you get free shipping and no tax.
ive read that you'll recordings wont suffer until you start using junk cables from radioshack (http://www.hr-faq.org/mictheory.htm#II_3) so right now i'll think you will be fine without a monster cable.
you'll need xlr cables. xlr will connect your nice mxlv67g (which i just ordered also :) ) to your preamp. im not familiar with preamps, i'll be using a behringer ub2222fx to give my condenser mics their power, but i could make a guess that connecting the preamp to the audiophile uses xlr as well.
this is the best site ive seen, primarily cause they have everything i want. i've also decided to go with a MXLV67G instead of the Behringer B1. But i guess i have one more question: is it a good idea to buy equiptment online at all? is it too risky? can i find the same prices at some stores?
im planning on buying a behringer ub2222fx mixer ($250), behringer b1 condensor mic ($100) and nady 7-piece drum mic kit ($160), which comes to about $510. i was planning on purchasing them on zzounds. is there a better website that i should check out? ive been to musicians friend, and their...
