    Square Room - Can I Go Kitty-Corner

So my studio space is almost perfectly square, which I know isn't ideal for acoustics. But it did have me thinking, since I can't set up speakers to fire down the long dimension of the room (there is no 'long' direction) does the option of setting up my desk in the corner now open up -- the room...

Vagabond - Barmans Fault - BFC Mix

well i like this song but i had a hard time wrapping my head around it and i'm running out of steam. organizing everything was tough for me as this is way more tracks than i am used to, so i enjoyed the challenge. i'm not happy with how much body the snare has in my mix, i'd like to thin it...

adjust volume including all notes on midi tracks

alternatively you could select all the midi notes, reduce the midi value to zero and then increase everything to 90 - won't have to fuss with selecting only certain ones. so you are playing the notes on a keyboard ? ... here's the manual, you can go to page 137 or search 'note velocity' (just...

    Fraud by The Jongleurs mixes

Yeah I took a few things out, but kept the kick, although I EQ'd out the really high pitched attack and tried to EQ and compress a different part of the high end. Most of my experience has been with electronic music so i'm never sure what to expect from drums that aren't samples or electronic...

    Fraud by The Jongleurs mixes

annnnd the train has left the station on this but here's my mix. this is the first time i've mixed anything other than my own piss-poor demos, so it was a real treat working with something that was tracked nicely :) thanks https://soundcloud.com/bigfatcock/fraud-jongleurs-bfc-mix

Online certificate courses for learning Ableton

dubspot tutorials are pretty solid, imo. Online learning for music seems tough to me, I'd see if there's any seminars/workshops or Ableton user groups in your area that may meet for free.

Punch in / Out Points in Live

Hi, so it looks like you're right and the smallest you can have the brace for punch in/out is a quarter note. I've never tried punching in/out for a quarter note! You can crop a clip in session view to 1/16th notes so you could do that and paste it over where you want. You can also adjust the...

    Best 8 Track Audio Interface

Depending on how many preamps you'll need, I've had pretty a pretty good time with my motu ultralite - it's only got two preamps but if that suits you it's great. Small, reliable, portable, lots of outs too, if you need that.

Low ceilings, mixing and recording in same space

PS An alternative would be to record vocals elsewhere in the house with a laptop but I prefer to keep and use all my gear in one place if possible, otherwise it becomes less fun for me....

Low ceilings, mixing and recording in same space

So like many people, the amount of space I can dedicate to studio is limited and mine is in a room in the basement. The dimensions are 8'6" lengthwise 7'6" widthwise and (the biggest challenge) 6'3" ceiling height. I've read that generally low ceilings aren't great but other than digging out my...
