    not clear on the concept

Sounds like you might be looking for freebie tutorials or resources, but if you've got $20 or so to spend, I can't praise this book enough - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0672320460/qid=1066928236/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6680768-4393511?v=glance&s=books I don't have any stake in...

    Vegas 4 and SoundForge

I think it came across well despite the typo - like maybe you were saying "huh" but you had a head cold and were really congested. Or somethin'.

    Sf 7?

I think I will upgrade... Why? I dig the rainbow colors in the new RMS meter.

Help!! XP won't install on new system

I second the video card hunch. When I switched from 98 to XP - I had similar problems, although XP eventually loaded. But I continued to have issues. Until I calmly removed the ATI card and stomped it's guts out - and replaced it with a card with nVidia chipset. No problems since.

Comp CD for sale at CD Baby!

Does this mean we are going to be rock stars? I hope so. I've always wanted to live on a bus.

what software/hardware do I need to mix each mic on a drum kit to one track each

Re: ... Then that "harware mixing board" is more than you think - probably a hard disc recorder or something because ACID will not record more than one track at a time. You can either record each track seperately, or record seperate tracks some other way and then bring them into ACID.

what software/hardware do I need to mix each mic on a drum kit to one track each

If you are talking about all 4 tracks at the same time, ACID will not do the job for you - ACID only records one track at a time. Sonic Foundry's Vegas would let you do this, but you said cheapest solution, so you probably want to go check out something like Cool Edit Pro or a Cakewalk product...

ASCAP or BMI ? & Why...

Larry K - just to clarify - ASCAP, BMI & SESAC do not track mechanical royalties - that is what the Harry Fox Agency (HFA) does. ASCAP, BMI & SESAC deal with performance rights and royalties. BMI is probably the best choice because it is free. There may be a small initial fee, but no annual...

are 24 tracks too much for acid to handle?

Yeah, I second Spin... I have had no problems with 24 tracks. Is your hard drive 7200rpm? That may have nothing to do with it, but what the hell, I like to sound like I know what I am talking about. I would run into sluggishness with 50 or so tracks (allbeit non-continuous audio on each track)...

Looks like the Sony buyout is complete...

Yeah, I go there pretty often. Noticed it for the first time yesterday.

I got mine (all five of them)

I can't put into words how happy I am that you paid for 5 sets and made that the first line of your mini-critique.

    Dual Monitor Woes

I don't know if video cards are backward compatible, or if that is even the right term for AGP - but could it be that the Matrox card is an 8x and your computer can only handle AGP 4x? Just an idea, I don't know if that would cause your symptoms or not. Brad

This is an excellent job, however

Let me get this straight... Did Gidge just call my mom a farm animal??!??!?!?!

    Comments and suggestions welcomed

Just to clarify, foo - I am not saying "Forgotten Blame" sounds old or anything like that - I was just describing where the song takes me in my mind, soul, heart, etc. Brad
