    let me see your studio!

    Been a while... :) Empty-nesters now, so what better use for an upstairs bedroom than to relocate my console room from the basement? ;) Talent still tracks in the basement and I keep an eye on things with wireless cameras... Working out pretty swell so far...

    Live Video/Audio question

    If you still are using Sonar, you can create a custom click track with Tempo Map... I had a client send me mp3's with no click and 'wandering' tempos and Sonar did a pretty slick job averaging out the BPM's. There is some config to do on your end... This vid spells it out easier than I can...

    Put up some pics of your kit

    Been away for a bit, but here's a pic of my newest acquisitions: 1951 Radio Kings - 24, 16, 13, 12, 5.5 in WMP :)

    Sonar and MTC - Sonar 0, Cubase 1

    The fact that Cubase performed as expected makes me lean towards either a Sonar config issue or MIDI interface drivers not playing nice (or both?). Give us an update when the MOTU shows up :)

    Sonar and MTC - Sonar 0, Cubase 1

    What is your MIDI interface with Sonar? Like I said, it has been a while... I was looking for some of my notes but haven't happened across any yet... I did find this link that looked pretty familiar in its procedure tho (it uses Sonar in the example). Maybe walk through it and apply to your...

    let me see your studio!

    Wow... 3 years apparently since I've shown my space... Biggest change: No more hardware mixers/faders on my desk... Using 3 video monitors now, with the main one being a touchscreen... I now slide faders just like I would on my smartphone ;)

    Recording guitar @ slow tempo and speed up

    ^^^^ This ^^^^ You're not going to be able to slow down the parts for him when he's playing live... Prolly a good idea for him to actually learn to play the song... :)

    Sonar and MTC - Sonar 0, Cubase 1

    What are your Yamaha DAWs? I haven't used MMC/MTC in forever but, when I did (I'm guessing Sonar 5?) it worked with no issues at all... Sync'd up perfectly with my old Tascam/Fostex gear... I'm pretty sure I used it quite a bit with my Roland 2480 as well... Which unit are you setting as the Master?

    Just had to share

    Original 2 prong cord... I hear folks saying that grounding the amp should be the first mod that gets done to it, but damn... There's just something so 'Time Machine' about how it sits now... Had one of my favorite players come over last night with his 71 strat... Wow was this thing singing! I...

    Anybody figured out Windows8 yet?

    From the desktop, swipe from the right side of the screen and select settings from the menu... Should get you to Control Panel :)

    Tascam Fw1884, Samson Servo 260, DAS Monitor 8 Speakers, Yamaha THR10 AMP

    Where are you plugging the mono side of the cables into and from which amp (Samson or Yammy)? I'm assuming you're going into the 1884, but are you going into 2 input tracks, or....?

    Just had to share

    The newest acquisition to my studio - 1958 Vibrolux in incredible condition (still has the Fender tag hanging on it). Leather handle is broke, but I have another from Fender on its way. Story, as it was told to me: The seller's long lost uncle used to play upright bass back in the 50's and...

    Playing live to a click.

    I have a mini disc player in my stage rack and keep all of our 'sequenced' songs on mini discs... I feed the right side (keyboards, horns, etc) to a half-normalled patchbay which routes a signal to my headphone amp and another to FOH. The left side (click only) just routes to my headphones... I...

    Recording Software Advice???

    If you're used to Cubase, just upgrade from LE and you'll be good to go. :) Pretty much any full featured program will expand beyong the 16 track limitation. Asking for recommendations in these forums will bring examples of every DAW out there... Not really a bad thing and you can get some ideas...
