Thanks Broken- yes, that is what I meant. I'm searching for an interface that won't add anymore color than what the external Pre is giving me. So far I've found that the MOTU or RME may be the interface that will give me the most transparent signal.

This one is way beyond my need and budget Universal Audio 4-710d | Sweetwater.com ...but would this work as an interface or would I have to pair it with a separate interface to get it into garageband? If so what interface would work with it?

Does anyone have any insight into the miking techniques used on the first 3 Bob Dylan albums and what kind of microphones he used? I've read he recorded all those sessions with no overdubs, but it would be cool to know what type of space he was in and where his mics were placed.
