I use the Elixir Polywebs, but I haven't really tried anything else. They sound pretty good to my ears, and I don't have to change them frequently. Once I get through the next pack I have, I'll probably try out something else like D'Addario.

First of all, this is just a little annoying. You've heard several of us spell it several times, it's AVT, not ATV. ATV is all-terrain-vehicle. :) Anyway, I suggest you go play one and see for yourself. Better than an amp twice its price? I think it is. Because you can get the AVT50 for $325...

If you're looking for something with nice distortion, check out Marshall's AVT20.

even if someone does tell you otherwise, won't it just be an opinion of somebody trying to justify their purchase on something that they are afraid to admit doesn't have good sound? ;)

are you serious? if you are, then you would want a Fender amp most definitely instead of a Marshall. Fender is known for the great blues tone while Marshall is known for their versatile and powerful distortion channel. LocusLarson was being sarcastic when he said everyone that i know that...

if you are looking for the great marshall tone, then definitely go with the AVT50. i'm about to get one myself, once i get the money. but anyway, the reason i say this is because the MG serious does not have a tube preamp like the AVT, which makes the AVT capable of producing a much better tone...

ah yeah, I just played it yesterday at one of the local guitar shops... it's really nice :) i can't wait to get mine. :cool: thanks for the input, i do agree about the magazine reviews, but in this case, it turns out that it really is an awesome guitar. the neck is really nice, great feel to it.
