    freeware Yamaha CP-70/CP-80?

I got Kontakt Player 5 to load the Greg Sullivan Giga sample pack. Kontakt Player took the Giga files and created an .nki data file. That played OK, but as usual with non-licensed content, Kontakt timed it out after 15 minutes. However, I found a workaround. A guy on the Harmony Central forum...

    Vocal Booth Treatment

In my experience, most vocal booths have a big pane of glass, for the vocalist to see the other band members, control room cues, etc. That's a lot of hard surface for which to compensate. Perhaps it would be better for us to refer to an "iso booth", and treat for all the anomalies. Flutter...

    Quality of sound in VSTs

Keep in mind also that YouTube videos have massive amounts of audio compression. The sounds on them will always be different than when you use the product at home. Not necessarily "better", but rather "pushy" and pumped up.

    Freeware Fridays here?

It's as Tadpui said. There's some good stuff that needs to be centralized and kept in play. Unfortunately, in the less-traveled corners of the forum, these little gems get overlooked. As long as there's no expiration on the download, let's make sure we let people know about them.

    Freeware Fridays here?

After their initial run, can the freeware Friday VSTs be moved in here (that is, unless they're "limited time only" or something like that)?

    mixing doesn't matter

A good song is a good song despite a bad mix. However, a bad mix doesn't let people hear a good song to its' fullest potential.

restoring old record tape record with dying batteries

The current version of Audacity has a sliding time scale/pitch shift function, presumably for such an occasion. And it's free... :) Since it's an audio editor, it's handy for these kinds of situations. If you have a pal with resto skills (like Steenamaroo), then by all means let him have a go.

    Voice over Booth Treatment Question

I've noticed one thing straight away. Have you ever seen a room with mirrors on either side, and the visual reflections when you walk in make it seem like there's an entire line of people looking like you? The same thing happens to sound. Parallel hard surfaces will reflect off each other, and...

Studios with big ass mixers anyone??, but why!!

Having had to do one of those "performance art" mixes, sometimes it takes as many "takes" to get a mix right as a recorded performance. This is why mix automation was such a big deal in the 1970s. Saving that rhythm section part of a mix you got right, and being able to going back and working...

    DAW for the poor

When I looked on the Hydrogen download page, it was specific: the Windows download binaries were listed as "unstable". As in version 0.9.6alpha1 unstable... it was developed as a Linux program from the word go. Good on them; we Windows Washers can't always get what we want. This is the big risk...

    27 Best . . .

Here's a great one rescued from oblivion: The NuBi Plus drawbar organ, VFX "crossover"/overdrive and Spinner rotary speaker emulator. It's got some killer presets, and the VFX between the organ and Spinner really makes a big difference. NuBi Plus Download Page

    Issues with Singing Reverb

Rob is essentially correct... twisting the head or torso does impede breathing technique. My vocal coach told me it's better to stand back.
