    Shure SM7B's gain requirements

I use an SM7B for voice overs in training videos. I found that a Cloudlifter made a big difference when going into my Mackie Onyx Blackjack interface. It's a great combination.

Samson Meteor, Blue Yeti, or Blue Snowball?

The ATR2005USB is on Amazon for $49. I think it's a better value than either the 2100 or 2010 models. It's surprising how well this little microphone performs. It's a great sound for the dollar.

Shure WCM16 isomax headworn microphone volume?

I'm not quite sure how to read the spec sheet for this microphone. Bought one used and it has pretty low volume when connected to either a Shure VHF transmitter, or a Shure MX1BP battery/xlr pack. The gain needed seems similar to my dynamic SM7b or Wh20 microphones (which I generally use with...

I could do with a little guidance - audio for a small budget video setup

Hmmm, thinking about it a bit, I hadn't tested with Skype, but it would surprise me if it wouldn't work if configured as the default sound device. Considering that you've moved on to other gear, it's now just academic.

I could do with a little guidance - audio for a small budget video setup

Sugarman, the H4n works fine as a complete audio interface... at least it does in Windows. You can monitor mic input in real time, and if you set the H4n as the default output device in the Windows sound mapper, the computer's sound plays through the H4n's headphones or speaker if headphones...

I could do with a little guidance - audio for a small budget video setup

When you were using the H4n as a usb mic, why you didn't just plug headphones into the H4n? I don't see the purpose of the second sound card interface.

Did I just throw out $50?

My point is that the speculation is about a replacement for the xlr at2020, hence the very low price. Time will tell.

A fellow at GuitarCenter mentioned an upcoming AT2020+ model... he didn't know the details.

Help me find a mixer and amp for my Podcast. This is the equipment I'm using...

How about the possibility of simplifying the setup, perhaps use a Zoom H6 as the mixer and recorder (or usb interface)? It can do the mix, record separate tracks, etc. Seems like something to consider.

Did I just throw out $50?

I couldn't resist... I picked one up on Amazon today for $50.59 Thanks for the heads up. As it turns out, Guitar Center also has them on sale for the same price.

    Hands-free microphone for on-road use

Some headsets have TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) plugs that direct the mono signal to both stereo channels. Adapters can be purchased that are mono-to-stereo (TS-to-TRS)... Or they are very simple to create if you can use a soldering iron. I use these types of mics and adapters with wireless...

    Hands-free microphone for on-road use

Your recorder has a socket for microphone input, so I would suggest looking at a headworn microphone. Search Amazon for Headworn Microphone... Pyle makes some very inexpensive models with either a single earloop or two earloops, and they have surprisingly good sound for vocals. Most have a...
