Sounds like it is pretty live. I like the vibe. This is a killer tune to play. My only real critique, is the drums are a bit loud. The snare seems to blast through. Mauinly just the snare. See if you can tame it a bit. I like the guitar tone. Very cool. Bass tone is really good for this tune. Good job Nick..

yeah ill fix up that snare!!

thanks dogman

i got more tunes from this band too

well covers.... il probably post them sometime soon

The playin's & recording's way beyond anything I was capable of at 16!!

Believe me, you don't wanna know!! In fact, I wasn't even recording at 16, much less playing like that. They didn't even have home 'puters when I was 16, nor did they have home recorders on a large scale, 'cept for the A3440 & similar class recorders. Of course I didn't have anything high tech til I was 21, and it was a Tascam 244. At 16 I was plugging my crap guitar into my stereo, and blasting that way,... as well as blowing the inputs on my stereo at least twice.

There was another thread a while ago, that was (para) "how have your recording skills improved?",... and I could blow yer mind if I posted two recordings of the same cover, done 20 years apart. Man,... stark reality hitz'ya in the face when you put those cuts back to back. I should still do that, just to blow people's minds. Heh.

Anyway, yer track rocks, and the playing is awesome,... but I kinda laughed when your obviously youthful voice comes it. You did a great job with the vocals, man, but hendrix's voice was so much more mature. It's a stark comparison. There I go again.

Okay, on balance,... your track back to back with the hendrix track is similar to what my two tracks sound like back to back. "Here's the young Dave,... & here's the old Dave". "Here's the old Hendrix, & here's the young Hendrix!!" Heh. I dunno why your track reminded my of that,... but it did.

Red House is an adult theme, and it's another chuckle to hear a 16yo wail the blues. Heh, heh. It's a great recording, okay, and a great effort, but the whole juxtaposition of things is highly comical in a conceptual way.

I think too much.

It's a great tape, dood.  Might as well go back over yonder!!   ;)

lol thanks .. i agree with everything ... the song itself i didnt play i just recorded

but man i have played this song at least 100 more times than this band

i love the blues

but i just got screwed out of a bass player and a guitar player so now im just a studio musician... i guess

Ah ha!

It was a fun listen, thanx!

I think I'll go back over yonder, across the hill! ;)

Very good sound on the guitar and it's some hot playing. Hard to tell the sound quality with the drums as there's so much verb and the verb's kind of grainy sounding. I'd reduce the decay time and level of the verb on the drums and guitar also. You might want to edit some of the snare hits if possible... they get pretty late occasionally. Vocal's kind of clean sounding... I'd try to grunge it up a bit.

is there a good way to grunge up some vocals?

Really like your tone/phrasing on the guitar...nicley done.....only nit is that vocals seem dry, while guitars are kinda wet...drums also seem to have a diffrent verb then both guitars and vox, which to my ears makes evreything sound like its coming from a diffrent place /source.Just my opinion ,for what its worth ;) ...Very cool blues jamming...I lisitened twice!

yeah i agree that the vocals are pretty dry compared to the rest of the mix and the snare needs to come down a bit, but man it sounds great to me. not overly polished, it keeps the sort of gritty bluesy guitar sound intact. great stuff.

Love these blues! Oh yeah!

Good job Nick! :) I agree about dirty'n up the vocals some. This should sound down and nasty. :D

Sweet sweet sweet, I love this song, one of my fave hendrix trax.

The guitar and drums sounds good, the bass as well.
I agree with the earlier vox comments.

Cool playing, great recording

thanks much naka

i fixed the drums and a i took off some of the verb on guitar

I haven't done much with vocal effects so I don't know if it's really even possible... Maybe you can use a tube saturation plugin to get it to growl a little. Digital Fisphones Blockfish has a saturation "circuit" in it but there are probably better plugs to try. Anyway, there's got to be some plugin that can turn a white guy into a black bluesman... :D
