sounds great .... I rarely make mix comments unless I hear something wrong or that I don't like.
I almost never make comments on your mixes 'cause none of those things ever happens!

very nice ....... if I were to comment on anything I'd say you need to sound a bit more stoned during the spoken soliloquy.

Lol. Pretty awesome. Love the hand percussion stuff. Guitars sound hotter than usual. What's different about them? They sound great. As for the mix, it sounds really good. If anything, I think I'd like more rhythm guitar. The little lead bits are fine, but more rhythm sin the chorus would be okay with me. Otherwise it sounds really good. Cool, unique song choice to cover.

Thanx Lt.

Yeah, I had the most trouble with the talking parts. I didn't want to try to sound like him, I don't have a British accent. So, I just tried to do it as naturally as possible. Maybe I could have slurred it a bit more.

I just heard the original the other day and I swear I was thinking how cool it would be to do it. Killer version all the way around. It just sounds lush.

Cool. Yeah, i did this on a whim. I always have a bunch of covers planned that I want to do one day. But I usually just end up doing one off the cuff if I happen to hear it and think it would be a good cover.

OK, the rythms in the verses can come up. I deliberately kept them down because it's supposed to be an organ there. So, I figured as long as they fill in, it should be OK.

Funny thing, the only thing different about the guitars is that it's the first time in probably a couple of years that I don't put them through impulses. Those are all just straight Peavey tracks, at different gains and different volumes on the guitar itself. I couldn't find a sound that made them sound better for this tune than just the straight recording.

This tune is the first time in a long time that I noticed the limiter changing the snare sound a bit. That usually only happens when I need to back off the limiter. I'm wondering why it's happening this time. You think I can afford to bring the kik and bass up? Maybe that would force me to back off the limiter and restore the snap of my snare. I don't quite have the crack I have in the un-mastered mix.

Thanx man!

I said rhythms in the chorus, not verse, but that's up to you.

Um, I don't think bringing the kick and bass up is the answer. Maybe, but they're already pretty prominent as it is. I get the same situation with my own mixes when I limit them for "mastering". The snare gets fatter and less distinct. That lets me know that my mix is wrong somewhere. It's never the same thing, but usually it's in the guitars for me, even though they don't occupy the same space as the snare. I tweak a few things and then my "mastered" mix sounds pretty much the same as my raw mix - just louder. I don't know how your mixes react to limiting, so you just gotta fiddle around and find it.

Yeah that's pretty much what happened to me. I heard it a few times lately, and thought it would be a great cover. But then I wondered what to do about the organ and flute. So, I decided the organ isn't crucial (though it does give it a great "space" in the original), and I thought it would be cool to learn the flute licks on guitar.

Thanx a lot Track!

Ah OK, the rythms in the chorus. Ok, I like them, I want them to be out there, so I'll bring them up for sure. Hopefully that will be one step towards solving the squashed snare situation. My mixes usually react well when I "smashter" them. This one just choked the snare a bit. I don't go nuts, I try to get them to average about -12 to -12.4.

Thanx man. I got some tweaking to do.

Bringing the guitars up might be the overall fix. If the limiter "sees" the guitars sooner maybe it'll hit them more and not affect the snare so much. Just a crazy hunch.

Oh that's really cool, RAMI. Great fuckin' choice! Love it.

Just for the hell of it, unless you're on an AA program, try doing a few takes next time you have a good buzz on.

Brings back serious memories - I'm pretty sure I wore this 45 out. Excellent cover of this classic!

Not a bad idea. The only AA prgram I'm on is "Alcohol Ad Nauseam". :D

Thanx Ido. Yup. One of my all-time favorites.

I uploaded a new version. Just letting you all know so you don't think you're going nuts if you hear things differently.

Lol, absolutely delightful, that was a great pick and you totally nailed it. Your vox on the chorus are the perfect tone.

What a great funky track bro.

Loved that one.

You know, I know the song, but that it was originally an English accent didn't really click until I read the post while I was listening... so I think your voice and style fits in really well.

I like LT's suggestion... I do my best singing after about half a bottle of red!

Cool song. Cool version. Nothing much wrong here for mine.

Is there going to be a RAMI cover album? Promise me you won't do any Bucks Fizz.. :D
