ye forgeteth the bad olde days :)

but ill settle for 53/47 :)

OK tried to open the mix up a bit, its sounding better to me, i may have lost some of the bottom end but at least its losing that boxy, narrow sound that was pissing me off

well I hope it has....Ive just endured a cacophony of a jazz band while my wife devoured a seafood buffet in front of me so my hearing may be forever impaired :)

Incredible my friend!!! This is definitely EPIC!!!
I Love it!!! Everything about it,..huge bass line w/ synths..
guitar sounds excellent, vocals, everything!
Your collaborator as well!!!
I really enjoyed this one alot. It sounded different.:D
Reminds me of a song they would play in a theater after
a movie just got done, and the credits started to roll.
A motion picture soundtrack...and that is definitely a good thing.

gee thanks man...it does have a horror film thing about it

its the best song ive had my hands on but the worst mix...im updating yet another tweak but i think its beyond salvageable, id be better starting from scratch tomorrow lol

which i might do ;)

Hats off to you guys. I started liking this from the intro synth bass riff and it kept getting better. Whew a kcearl tune with guitars, I knew it would work. Are they Joey's guitars? Great vocals from the man too, not overdone and very appropriate. You gotta be happy with this, it's a keeper. Nice collab gentlemen

thanks man...the guitars are Joe..i do play guitar in a few of my tracks but hide my poor skills by mangling it until it sounds like a synth lol

im a bit happier with it now...now its spread out more...yup its a keeper...i still want to jump around my living room at the final chorus, which is probably a bad thing :D

good thing you have a doctor in the house........in case you break a leg or something:D

This is pretty much Hornby OO.
& you know where that ranks in the world of TechnoMeccano & such:
A design for modern Loving.
Well in advance of LegoTechnics.
Dancing on the underground,
The ballet with the blade.
Wasted on the new estate,
Dancing, dancing brick by jowl!
Oh, my wife doesn't like it - but that's a good thing as she's the Fleetwood Mac (buckinghamnicks variety) to my Birthday Party. The Bon Jovi to my Leonard Cohen if you will, (oooh, I've just realised I'm a music snob!).

There you go, Keith.....our next one's gonna be called Blade Ballet!;)

Oh Joey,
now you got me thinking about inkin':

Dancing on the underground,
With the blade ballet you howl
Wasted on the new estate,
Dancing, dancing brick by jowl!

A design for modern loving.
Well advanced this common man
Tender mem'ries on CCTV
From body ink to full trepan

I have no idea how I got drug into this, so I'll move on....

The mix is a little light in the bottom compared to your usual stuff, but it works on this song because it's a more traditional type song. You could hear something like this on the radio, whereas your usual stuff would only be heard at glow-stick waving homo infested rave parties. This song doesn't need chest thumping kicks on every beat. I think you found a nice balance. Sounds good.

brilliant G...if you say the kicks OK im going to stop worrying about it...I didnt think it should punch you in the chest

the drums are all going through a saturator plug, which i wouldnt normally do, but it gives them a little more bite as although it sounds a simple arrangement, if you include Joes stuff, its over 50 tracks...a bit ambitious for me and mud central lol

might be sharon, im not getting it myself but im dead to this, cant believe the simplest of tunes was proving to be so difficult...i dont suppose having four kicks helps lol

ill go back to it with fresh ears myself...

OK...getting another chance to listen without waking my family. Not sure now if maybe you've changed the initial version of the song you posted? Anyway..maybe my word choice of "treble" wasn't the correct description....but it seems the vocal (which is really good by the way) is sitting too far forward? (I have no idea if that even makes sense...b/c I don't know all of the correct jargon!) I could hear the monster sounds growling...nice touch! Another part I thought was especially good was around 2:30ish...where he's talking and then right at 2:44 the energy in the build-up before the chorus was almost palpable.

PS...is "kicks" another word for a beer?

in my world of beer its an easy mistake to think everything means beer lol, but in this case it means bass drum :)

Yeah Ive changed the initial version, probably a few times...the vocal has a bit of volume automation on it but it did seem right level. Its possible that when i spread the drums out ive created more room for the vocals making them appear louder

Ill give it another listen, but not today...today I hate music :D

I like it, cool tune and all...

But, can't put my finger on it...maybe sounds thin and less defined/separated than your usual stuff? I'm not getting good definition of the groove or bassline. A bit one dimensional? I'm listening on 'puter speakers, so that might be part of the issue. Also i'm struggling to hear the lyrics in the verse. Maybe tweek those up just a hair, or bring the guitar down?

All and all, good tune and colab.

I've never gave you any suggestions on a mix before,
Because all of the mixes I've heard from you so far, are fine.
But if I were to suggest somethin' for this mix...
I would bring the guitar to the front more.
Just seems like it should be a little more dominant in this particular song.
You did say it's beyond salvageable though.
Unless it's just my cheapo monitors.
Just sayin'...:)

cheers Mick...you wont hear the lyrics in the verse without them overpowering everything, thats the power of the whisper :) I kinda like them like that

it isnt as separated as my other stuff, thats what ive struggled with but i can think of two other mixes ive done recently, crowley and dalston, where i thought the same though they did seem to translate well

this doesnt sound great on my PC speakers either but a hell of a lot better than it did...my stuff is generally 30+ tracks and this is 50 so there is just a lot more to deal with (first time my CPU has hit 100%)...so i guess its practise my son, Im waiting on PI to give it a listen to and that will make my mind up on whether to keep poking at this or just start again, sometimes you just have to do that

thanks for listening Doobs...hope you're not missing me too much ;)
