I needed a "ballad" for my second album (even though the first one aint ready yet ), so I wrote this sappy little song with my old lady in mind and she helped out with a few lyrical ideas. :D

It's hot off the press, but as of right now, I'm okay with it. See what you think.

Thanks,
Greg

I met her at the Chick-Fil-A
That's where she took my breath away
I didn't know just what to say
Hey pretty girl won't you look my way

And then she flashed her big, supersized eyes
And I nearly choked to death on my fries
Hey pretty girl you look so swell
I wanna ring your Taco Bell
She's my fast food angel oh yeah
She's my fast food angel oh yeah

Our first date was at Mickey D's
Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese
The next night at Burger King
I asked that girl to wear my ring

And then she flashed her big, supersized eyes
And I nearly choked to death on my fries
Hey pretty girl you look so swell
I wanna ring your Taco Bell
She's my fast food angel oh yeah
She's my fast food angel oh yeah

And when we go hang out in the scene
We get a chocolate malt for two at the Dairy Queen
That girl is a sugar drop
With a red cherry on top
I wanna eat her up yeah

I think about her every day
She grabbed my footlong at Subway
She knocked me out of my socks
When she gave me a kiss at the Jack in the Box oh yeah

She's my fast food angel oh yeah
She's my fast food angel oh yeah
She's my fast food angel oh yeah
She's my fast food angel oh yeah

Yeah, it's sappy, but I like your use of wordplay.

Nice one, Greg.

Production is spot-on, as usual. The only thing that stands out, and I know you don't care but I'm gonna say it anyway, are the vocals.

I'm still trying to get my drums sounding as good as yours.

Hey, by the end of it I was singing along and rockin' to it!:D
The arrangement and production are awesome and it's a great song with a great hookline, but then all your songs have a great hookline. This shows what a great hand you have at songwriting. I loved the ooh la la's in the bridge....once again a great song, bro!
So when's that album ready?

Joey :):):):)

Thanks PI. Yeah vocals aint my thing, but I didn't think they're that bad. :laughings:

Thanks Joey.

All the album needs is for me to take some pics for the cover and liner, but it aint as easy as just snapping photos. It's art! :p

Great song! The only thing I'd advise is take some of the bass off of the vocals. I can't wait to hear your album. :D

I don't think that I'm qualified to critic the mix and recording,
But I can say that I really like the song

:)

I'm REALLY jealous of your guitar and snare sounds. For some reason I have so much trouble with distorted guitar and snare:mad:

I did notice a few *poofs* for lack of a better word, on the vocals. Like when you say "hey pretty girl" it sounds like you weren't using a pop filter on the "p." Reducing the compression ratio on the vocal will fix it (unless you actually weren't using a pop filter, which I doubt). I agree with Squibbel that a little less bass might help with that too.

Do you have any secrets for snare or guitar? Are you just spot-on with mic placement? Do you mind divulging exactly what plugins you're running on that snare? I would love to know

Ballad of a cholesterole courtship!
Where were you wearing the socks?
As usual, humour a plenty!
Terrific melody - works a treat with the arrangement.
Were you playing air strokes to keep to the slower speed?
Another unreal song Greg - and I'm near the front of the queue waiting for album #1.
The graphics for an album are hard yakka aren't they? The idea of allowing an image to poorly represent oneself isn't acceptable is it! The 1st viusal impression is still mighty powerful - that's the reason I avoid snaps of myself as much as possible. It's an art that has to be mediated by the skill of knowing the right time to say WHEN!
Excellent tune!

I don't hear any plosives problems with my vocals. I definitely use a pop filter. What I do hear now that I've gotten away a little is that the doubled vocal track might be too loud. It's not super tight with the main track so that might be what you're hearing. I'll go back and take a closer look at what's going on with the vocals. Thanks for the comments.

There's nothing on the snare itself but a gate and a little EQ. The snare and the rest of the drums are bussed to a sub group where they are treated to a little compression and reverb as a kit.

Thanks a lot Ray. This song was a nice change for me from my usual stuff. No solo, no quadruple time drumming. Nice and easy. My album cover and liner art is - in my own mind - kind of funny, but I gotta get it just right and it's gonna take probably multiple days of photography.

Cool song. I didn't notice any nits on the production.

Though the Subway line stuck out as much dirtier than the rest of the song. 8o

I loved it! But it has sentimental meaning for me too! My wife and I met and started dating while working at Mickey D's in high school--so I was totally grooving on all the fast food puns! After 25 years, I think my wife and I have finally found "our song!"

Thanks Greg!

No issues on the mix on this for me. Take this seriously now - you should write for theatre. These are the kinds of songs that we hear when we go to Jubilations dinner theatre and they go over like gangbusters. Funny, entertaining, catchy and easy to perform while dancing around the stage, lots of room for backup singers etc etc I could go on and on but you get the idea....

Great job!

Haha, awesome. Thanks. :D

Thanks Ido. I dunno, you may be right. I do enjoy doing the silly/funny thing, but I like to bring the rock too. ;)

The intro chords remind me of Pretty in Pink by the Furs. Your vocal sounds like Joey Ramone. Other than that, it's all you. :D Funny lyics. Good stuff

i'm only listening on crappy laptop speakers, but the whole mix seems to just sound really tiny. liek it's all upper-mids and no low end. it also sounds very quiet and hard to hear, and a little compressed/distorted/fizzly and not too clear. also the stereo field seems really narrow. and i can't hear the kick drum or bass at all. but other than that it's pretty good.
