he is not responsible for

guaranteeing the fuctionality

of what we buy

(though he has been

helpful in past group buys

in attempting to

right any wrongs)

i don't think there is

a functional warranty

with this equipment

maybe chance can chime in

with his take on the situation

I invite you AGAIN to try and read.

It's a few pages back.

I'll be nice and figure you were out of town or busy and missed a few pages.

Chance, INDEED did say that there was a warranty and that TnC would address these issues when he was done shipping stuff.

Please do not add to the confusion and speculation. It's in print by the man himself.

I'm actually starting to feel bad for this guy...

40 years old posting on a Forum that has nothing to do with him... Except the fact that he has a vast amount of Jealousy towards those who got in on a great deal and are able to take a "Chance" on life. How sad it must be sitting at home w/ a crappy guitar and BON JOVI as your main influence.

Maybe we could all chip in and get this guy a acm-3. Then maybe he can feel like part of the group and stop posting such nonsense.

Not that I'm taking your bait but it seems like a good time to reiterate that this isn't a business for Chance. I can't imagine for the life of me why, but Chance has done ALL of this, put up with immeasurable shit from alot of us and devoted countless hours of time to do all of this for NO monetary gain.

If that is a business model, Chance has more problems than these preamps.

if thats the truth, then God bless the man..but my BS Detector says someone is making profit..

do you know anyone who would order, process, ship, etc etc such an unholy amount of mics/preamps for "no monetary gain"?...

Well, I guess you could be right there. I thought it was just an Oliver offering. If TNC gets a cut, that's a big problem.

Again, all I want is equity. Can everyone offer commercial items? Or only commercial items that relate to group buy offerings? Why would the group buy enjoy that special privilege? And how do we define a group buy related product? Like I said, if I do a high-output mic designed to overcome ACMP hum, is that a related product?

Where do we set the standard for pricing way below commercial offerings? x% profit margin, or x% of comparable products? If it's profit margin, then we need full disclosure of product costs. Chance did that, at least for the first couple of group buys he published the factory invoice. For pricing, is that an average of comparable products, or the lowest priced comparable product? What if there are no comparable products (as there would not be for an upgrade or repair kit)?

And why limit the commercial offering privilege to group buy members?

That's a can of worms, man. That's really opening the doors to all kinds of stuff . . .

Everyone involved with this venture is making money. Originally, Chance said he had no intention of entering the mic buisiness. Today: He has the 1. Factory connections, 2. Ordering system online and worked out, 3. Shipping system. The mic group buy turned into a mic & pre-amp goupp buy and now a upgrade package buy and later more stuff buy. I really don't believe anyone would do this amount of work for no-profit. Right before you is a total new company! What is the problem with another one like Brad?

BTW: I am not saying anyone like Chance does not deserve making money at the prices offered, I am just saying that all this has happened here and the only reason no-one cares is because everyone is getting good deals.

If very few were getting great deals I suspect all the flaming would begin about spamming, etc.

I say the more the merrier.:D

this forum has everything to do with me..every mic I own has been thru research in this forum...and I was putting in my 2 cents about spammers in the Mic Forum since b4 you were here assclown...

I don't know that it is all that clear just yet. There is the transistor issue that Zmix addressed. That fix will clearly require either some soldering skills or sending the units to someone who has them. It isn't entirely clear to me whether that issue also exists for any of the other models as many of the boards and parts are used in all three models. There is also the inductor issue that Brad, among others, has been working on. Will simply shielding the inductors as Brad apparently did work sufficiently or will the power supply need to be moved? I haven't seen a definitive response just yet. There is the loud pop that occurs when rotating the gain dial to which the only response so far is to turn off your monitors. There is the apparent phase reversal in some (but maybe not all) units. Aside from the sporadic dead LEDs which some have reported, there may yet be other issues.

So, not necessarily so simple or, for that matter, completely known just yet.

I remember reading that zmix is now using his 81's with his problems resolved. It did require some labor, swaping out 4 transistors per unit, and he gave product numbers for the proper transistors. You know, I am kinda old and can often forget things. Now, what were we talking about?

Chance:

Strange! For some reason I stopped getting notifications of new posts to all the forums and see many new posts in all forums. Warrentees, Before I get into that I want to finish the shipping process. Then I need to assemble all that needs to be addressed with all the pres. I also need to inform China "what changes need to be made (like the BC441-6 & 461-6 for one example) They only build them. They will make changes as directed. Chris and I will be meeting with the manufacturer at the NAMM show next month. We'll need as much info/changes as we can get.
On another strange note, last week I received a large pkg from China. It was quite heavy. It contained 210 pots and 10 ext PSU's. I don't have the faintest idea what this is for. I got no E-mail, but I did E-mail them and am waiting for their reply.
Once we assemble what needs to be done to make these pres right, I will post where to send them for repair.

Gidge--your point has been made; your opinion is clear. Everytime you take another swipe you look that much more petty. Really, try letting go. It's good for the blood pressure.

/waits for Gidge to come back with something clever and mature, no doubt involving some bodily orifice/

So....you can't read or you choose not to. Which is it?? Do a search. I won't spoon feed it to you.

Yes.

Warranty.

Earth.

OK, now back to your Cannabis, cannabis.

that's pretty disingenuous of you

drBill

it was posted on a different bbs

and instead of admitting your error

and apologising for your confusion

you post it as if

i'd missed it myself

it's not how i expect a doctor

to act -

doctors take responsibility

for their actions

i'm afraid i'm going

to have to demote you to

nurse bill

:)

on the originl topic of warranty

i see that you are right

and chance is implying

some sort of warranty

i don't see how chance

can possibly honor it

financially

with all the problem units

and his presumed zero profit margin

in this buy

though i commend him for trying

i myself had no expectation

that any guarantee

was in effect on these units

i bought them "as is"

Nurse Bill!! LOL Good one. Yeah, I found it on GS, but there's also a similar post here that I couldn't locate quickly. HR was locking up on me this morning and I couldn't do any real searching. I should have stated that, but I'm just back in town and trying to play catchup on a dozen different things. I'm pretty sure that post was double posted here as well (Chance does that a lot). If not, it's certainly my bad. With all the GB threads going on, it's hard to keep track. BTW, I'm not really a doctor, just an MD - Musical Director in Euro terms, and all the US guys kept calling me doc, (MD = Doc = MD) so the moniker stuck.... I'm perfectly happy to fix mine myself when the "official" fix reports/scenario comes in, but as stated, I'm glad Chance is sticking with his warranty. Maybe the Chinese are picking up the tab???

It doesn't bug me so much. I've actually come to appreciate the variety your posting style contributes to otherwise visually bland pages. But I must admit, I'm curious. Is it deliberate? And if so, how difficult is it to do consistently--or is it second nature by now?

I often find some sense of meter and rhythm in your posts, suggesting poetry. But then I might read that into anything broken up into poetry sized lines.

Or is it not deliberate? Are you posting with a 3" screen on a handheld device that adds hard breaks instead of soft returns?

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Hey guys
I won't be posting as much for the next three months as I am booked for a lot of all-nighters. Bummer, this means I won't be getting up with the sun for a while.
I just got an E-mail from the pack/shippers stating "Where are all the labels for about 30 of you guys" I checked and couldn't find them and after some research discovered that when I switched my E-mail from MAC OS-9 (classic) Outlook express to OS-X Mac mail, those 30 orders did not get imported into MAC mail. The shippers thought I was waiting on payment, but I never received the information. I logged back into my Outlook Express, and sure enough, there they were. I just now invoiced them. To top things off my Epson R-220 which has been through 2 GB's tried to swallow about 20 papers at once and when I pulled the papers out and tried to print again, it won't print. I tried all the utilities, but no go. Tomorrow I hope I can find an Epson that takes the same ink carts because I use the CIS (continuous inking system) I do know that the R-200, 220, 300 and 320 all use the same carts.
I have several hundred E-mails and my PM boxes are full, but I just don't have the time to answer each and every message. When time permits, I'll try to glance over all the messages and post on the boards an over all view of answers

Charlie...

Hey Jay, yes there is a fix for the ACMP-81, and seems to be very simple. Zmix over at PSW solved it, fixed his, and working great and they are in the process of putting something together for the group 81 fix.

Hope you are safe, and thanks for your service.

Charlie

Thanks for this information! One more favor to ask:

- Once that "something" is finalized, would someone mind to post the info here? Either that or a pm would be fantastic. I'll most likely want to have that solution before I ever do anything with the 81.

Again, thanks!

Jay

I love reading Cannabis post, just for that very reason...I too find some sense of meter and rhythm in reading his post...all exuding from that 3" screen structuring...:D

And I am hoping

to share within

this group buy season

when a new one begins

Okay, so mine just rhymes

and lost just about all

that smooth meter stuff...

Chance,

What does the printer do when you try to print?
