I didn't receive email notification that my shipping invoice was available. I just have been checking the console daily. An email reminder to those who's shipping invoice is ready but haven't paid yet might help move thing along quite a bit.

Agreed. I think a mass email should be sent out to all people registered with the GB, telling them to check their consoles.

I invoice orders when the shipper has them packed and ready to ship. The bulk of the inventory is in storage so they MIGHT be packing what they have on hand. MANY who have been invoiced, have not paid and their order is taking up valuable real estate in the pack/ship warehouse. Once paid, they ship immeadately. Orders are being picked up every day. (even if it's only 1 or 2)

So technically, they're being invoiced in no particular order, then? :p

Well, they're going down the list, but if their warehouse runs out of one product, they will continue to pack what they have on hand to fill orders that don't include those products. The more they pack that is on hand, clears space and keeps the machine operating.

No order that's worth determining or knowing, I guess -- maybe the more different and esoteric stuff you got, the less likely they are to be able to throw your order together with what's on hand (just my luck for ordering the ACM compressor -- what you didn't see that? :D -- just kidding! but I did get some mics that don't seem to have been that popular)

Someone mentioned "6 months". Well this MUST be wrapped up soon because I have to account for all the incoming and outgoing $ in my bank account to the IRS for 2K8

I just want to start by saying that I am in no way trying to do anything but help Chance keep the wolves at bay better. I would NEVER want to give Chance anything but support and immense grattitude for doing the amazingly altruistic acts he does (for no gain other than karma) least of all impatiently bitching about this huge process.

I think if they had some idea as how the list is arranged, they may be able to figure out a rough estimate without having to bother Chance.

At any rate, I just want to remind people that the stuff was ordered in May. We have been waiting for the lions share of the total time and it won't be long now. I for one, am totally excited about the initial reports about the sound of the pres and the general quality of the mics that I can wait without issue. Waiting for those reports was way more important to me.

I am also extremely psyched that I stayed away from the 81 :p

Great job again Chance. You da man.

Chance, a few questions....

What do you mean "runs out of one product", is this the last 100 pres that had to be sent seperatly?

Just to clarify, is there any way of predicting the order of what is been selected to be shipped?

Roughly how much do you feel the unpaided invoices are slowing down the rate of shipments? It'll give an indication of how much of a problem it is.

I think everyone still waiting would like to know what makes you so sure? The shipping process has come across as a bit of a black box at the moment, possibly due to unforseen problems (ie international shipping paperwork, unpaid invoices etc), but could you step through how the entire process works so everyone gets an idea of what's happening.

P.S. I only put in as much as I could afford if nothing came back. So far this is going extremely well.:) You're doing a standup job.

Thanks,
LK.

From my perspective (and I simply read the same things everyone else does) I don't really see this as the case.
I take the point about last year. But when Chance says that some days only 1 or 2 go out, and we know that around 400 orders (IIRC) have been made, that strikes me as slow, and indicative that people who haven't paid are hampering the process. I was volunteering to help get that portion of the process moving.

My offer still stands.

Craig

When I said "runs out of product", and you re-read what I posted, The bulk of the products are in storage.
I posted the process several times before, but here goes again. The shipper has a copy of all the invoices. They pack, weigh, and measure the packages in each order. They E-mail me the name, weight, and dimensions of each order. I then input this persons name in my Fed Ex or USPS address book. All the shipping information you provided (shipping address) comes up on the screen. (CSV file) I enter "home delivery" the weight, the dimensions, and the future ship date, then get the cost, print and attach the label, and bill you. When payment is received, it ships immeadiately. In the past some have paid with a different name, or haven't yet paid which slows things down. Many times on my administration console someone shows "paid" but I can't find that payment received only to find after much research, someone else paid for their order.
I hope this explains the process

Oh, that was for domestic orders where the label can be printed ahead of time.
Fed Ex will ship packages today with a label dated next week.
With USPS, I MUST put THE ship date (only 2 day max ahead) on the label which means I can not do this ahead of time as an assembly line. If a USPS label is dated today and doesn't get picked up, it becomes "stale-mail", and I have to re-do all the customs paperwork as well as the label. THEN I have to file and wait for a refund. USPS charges me at the time I print the label where as Fed EX doesn't charge me until it is picked up and scanned.

Finaly had a chance to listen to these mic's. An artist I have been working with was good enough to give me some of his time (in exchance for mine ofcourse) to throw these mic's up and give them a listen. I hope to have some clips to post next week (if the artist and producer are ok with it) But here are some thoughts:

For the listen the artist basicaly played an acoustic guitar and sang.

First up were the mic's we used for the session, a pair of Shoeps m221b's. (my personal favorite for his guitar) These fed a Millennia Media HV3D-8, to Mytek Digital Converters at 192k connected via AES (RME's AES32) to my Nuendo Workstation.

I only had about an hour of burn in on the tube mic's from the day I got them and I did not have the time to let them warm up sufficiantly, they were probably on all of 5 minutes so results may very......

All microphones were spaced about 10 inches apart for A-B stereo.

So the ACM310's. Just about as I expected. They had a decently full sound with a tight top end. They were a little muddy in comparison to the m221's, but the sound was desierable. I am hoping with a little more burn in time the responce will smooth out a little since they tended to be a little boomy in the 200k - 300k range. I am already thinkign of going through and maping out some cap upgrades to see if I can open up the top a little more.

Ok, on to the ACM1200's (cardioid). They did not play as well with the acoutic gtr (it is naturaly dark sound), but in comparison they were much darker sounding, with a decent body (I get wine and microphones mixed up). Still they had a decent sound. Honestly I was not expecting anything from them, since I have been planing on moding them since day 1. I am thinking of swapping diaphrams out with some Peluso CEK-12's and maybe a botique transformer.

The 6802t (cardioid) was used on his voice and was compared to a Telefunken u47 long body (probably not a fair fight). Natualy the difference was night and day, the 6802's responce seemed to dip quickly beyond 15khZ (the artist has a very cool breathy sound, that plays well in the 17kHz range). I felt that the top and was tight and closing in. The lower ranges were favorable, and offered up that nice "presence" that we have come to love. I think I will be able to expect some great thigns from this in the future. I think this will be a cool choice for a soprano sax.

Again, these is really no time on the tubes so these are just preliminary opinions that are sure to change. These mic's are without a doubt worth the money and I ma sure they will find many uses where they shine.

Next week I will be working with an 80 piece wind band so I will be able to throw all of these up and have some better material to judge these by. I should also have the opertunity to burn them in for several hours between now and then. I will be able to post those clips with out a problem.

Make sure to leave them on overnight. Seemed to make a big difference on my 1200's Glad you're happy with them. :D:D

Thank you for your answer, just a little panic :D and again: thanx for all your work !

Hey, this past group of orders went very smooth. On Wednesday, the shipper sent me around 25 orders that were packed and ready to go. I printed the labels and invoiced the orders. Thursday almost everyone paid, and today Friday they are being shipped.

You just like rubbing it in, don't you? Keep it up and I'm gonna get me one of these blow up punching things and put your name and picture on it.

International shipping with USPS (ugh!) A while back I filled out all the paperwork for customs along with the weight and dimensions. The label printed and was not rejected. Three days later, this package was returned to me. Their reason? They said I must add the H and the W, times 2, add the L and it must not total more than I think it was 72". Now we must re-pack in 2 boxes which will cost more. I did the math for this one order, and Fed Ex would have been MUCH cheaper to ship as one package. EVERYONE overwhelmingly requested USPS for their international shipping and I am stumped as to "why USPS?"

I am ready to pay immediately when the shipping invoice is posted.
I too could be one of the quick and painless orders.....then I would have some new toys to play with over the upcoming Thanksgiving day weekend.
